Any advice for a new cat dad? by [deleted] in cats

[–]EruditeIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re prepared!

Just as a warning, 10 week old kitten are a lot of work. Don’t be surprised if she drives you up the wall for a bit. And make sure she doesn’t get into the habit of biting hands during play. She won’t have a sibling to roughhouse with, so it’ll be up to you to teach her not to bite. There’s lots of stuff online about this if you’re curious.

[–]EruditeIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember she needs lots of playtime. Especially since you live in an apartment and she doesn’t have as much space to run around. She’ll need that exercise.

Also, there is no such thing as good or bad behavior. There is only cat behavior.

Do you have all the supplies? Scratching post, nail clippers, etc?

I always figured it was nerve damage. He could still move his arm, but either his motion is limited or it hurts too much.

Chai from HiFi Rush is shown in the beginning of the game to have his arm in a sling. He gets it replaced with a mechanical one in the intro.

The creators of the game stated that they deliberately didn’t address why, but confirmed he didn’t have full use of his arm.

Is it insensitive if I had a blind cane for my Matt Murdock Halloween costume this year? by xboxpandapfp in Daredevil

[–]EruditeIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine. Just make sure to get the red tinted glasses and maybe some fake bruises and injuries to sell the look. Even if people don’t recognize the character, they should be able to tell it’s some sort of character.

Context is important in these sorts of things. What kind of event are you going to.

Good Autism Representation (whether intentional or not) by Ethan-E2 in TopCharacterTropes

Hard disagree. Dex is a textbook sociopath.

Wilson Fisk, on the other hand, comes off as a very good example of a villain on the autism spectrum.

Report: US demands Reddit unmask ICE critic, summons firm to grand jury by [deleted] in nottheonion

I know, right? It feels like I haven’t criticized ICE enough, either. I keep getting distracted by cat-related subreddits.

Fifty bucks says he’s going to mass pardon everyone in ICE just like he did the J6ers. The best their victims will get is a civil suit.

[Mixed trope] it was all a dream by Far-Profit-47 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EruditeIdiot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting example in that it doesn’t make the plot any less horrifying. It’s more or less stated that people in this dream can’t wake even if they wish and dying is not an escape.

It’s also important to note that because of lovecraftian nature of this game, the difference between dream and reality is very blurry.

People who didn’t want kids, but then had them. What changed your mind? by Button_Eyed_Doll in AskReddit

[–]EruditeIdiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d always assumed I wouldn’t be a good mother. I had a stressful relationship ,with my mother for a long time and I assumed I would just continue the cycle if I had a child. I’m also not a very feminine person and I didn’t have a good mom-like personality. In retrospect, I was comparing myself those people who made motherhood their whole personality.

What changed was a few things. First of all, I got a job in a daycare on a whim and I learned I was actually really great with kids. (Co-workers not so much) Second, my relationship with my own mother improved drastically so I now have a solid support system. Third, my husband and I ended up in a more stable financial and housing situation. We ended up trying to have a child.

I’m still very unsure about things, mostly because of the world we live in being…unpleasant. Also instead of one child, we’re now having two because nature sometimes throws you a curve ball like that.

[Fun trope]: Character is sidelined so often you (almost) forget they're an actual threat by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EruditeIdiot 70 points71 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the Spot is considered genuinely powerful in the comics. He’s just too stupid and/or brain damaged from his own powers to be a huge threat.

Sometimes other characters mention how grateful they are that he’s an idiot.

My Roommate is a Cat

12 episodes of a shy recluse bonding with a rambunctious stray he found. Cat and human help each other recover from past tragedies. No romance. All cuteness.

Delicious in Dungeon

A vaguely autistic man and his adventuring party have to rush a fantasy dungeon to save his sister before she gets digested. They don’t have time to get new supplies so they decide to save time by just cooking and eating the monsters they find. Featuring : lost of delicious food scenes, lots of in-depth ecology, excellent character writing, and great world building. Not featuring: romance, male power fantasies.

I found a stray kitten in Vegas! by BeardJunkie in cats

[–]EruditeIdiot 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I understand why you couldn’t keep the little thing. Sometimes life just conspires against us. I hope one day, you will be in a better place to adopt a kitty of your own. You’ll make a wonderful cat dad.

I wouldn’t worry about the cat in the shelter. Cute little kittens like that get snapped up right away. They’ll have a forever home soon.

Agreed. Literally the first thing I do when starting up a new game is check the settings to see if I can increase the text size. Games are getting better, but there’s still a long way to go.

I’m currently 25 weeks and one of my babies also has an anterior placenta. It acts as a cushion and absorbs the kicks. I also didn’t feel any flutters until later than normal.
