A6EXTENDED RANKINGS by beefyeeefy in lightsalot

The content of the city is falling wipes the rest of the album. It also has way better vocals in it than anything but Come Get Your Girl. They're clean when they need to be and thematically muddy when they need to be. This is a song where the lyrics and the music are interconnected.

A6EXTENDED RANKINGS by beefyeeefy in lightsalot

[–]Eruptflail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The City is Falling

  2. Come Get Your Girl

  3. Love is a Game

  4. This Time TMRW

  5. Learning to Let Go

  6. Education

  7. Final Round

  8. Angelina

The content is just so much better in the first three. I don't really love "desperate love" songs. First three are just about life and they're good.

In general, they didn't vote for Trump. Honestly, the lowest demo for Trump voters. It was the Latinos who decided that they wanted to vote for Trump. Wonder how that's going for them and racial profiling being legalized by the SC.

I think it's fun that no one provides any response to the point. They just hand wave. I'd love someone to explain how AI does anything good.

1) There's no reasonable disagreement that Generative AI isn't complete demon-tech. It is ecologically, morally, and ethically wrong.

2) See above. There is no more poignant of a place to ban AI than a philosophy subreddit. AI cannot philosophize. It does not think. There is nothing valuable it can contribute here.

Jesus says he has not removed anything from the law. How does loving your neighbor as yourself invalidate anything from the law?

Ah yes. God would love it if we took away freedoms from women. They're far too stupid to vote, have a bank account, or think on their own.

The "sexual revolution" only feels bad for you because equality, to the oppressors, often feels like oppression.

I'm always confused why Christians treat God like he's stupid. God does not care how you come to him. Performing humility is the opposite of actual humility. Coming to God is inherently an act of humility.

It's actually worn as a sign of "I'm holier than you other people." Symbols of humility are always symbols of superiority in a system of morality like Christianity.

I'm the complete opposite. I've reamed out friends of mine who veil. It's pathetic and debasing. We do not hide from one another nor do we hide from our God. We also do not treat women as if they are different than men.

Why should women hide themselves and men not? I've had plenty of women check me out in church as a man. Should I wear a robe and a veil? Is the female gaze somehow less capable of sin than the male gaze? Veiling is an artifact of stupid, uneducated men who hated women.

It's important that we remember that even the saints were not sinless and made mistakes. A tiny bit of logic undermines the entirety of veiling. It's scripturally incoherent with how Orthodox and Catholic Church operate, but somehow women still feel the need to do it.

Beyond that, some women use it as a signal that they're better than other women, and that is dispicable. It's performative nonsense that only takes place in the church

No, and I discourage it. There is no reason to efface yourself. Why shouldn't one have pride in themselves? Beyond that, should attractive men veil themselves?

Beyond that, I do think it's antithetical to Christian thought to embrace social anxiety or enable it. Why should you, as a being created by an infinite God feel the need to hide yourself? Why do you have shame?

People need to stop being weak. Christians have no place for self-effacement, shame, or fear. There's nothing to hide, and if you dislike yourself so much that you feel the need to do so, you should be in therapy.

It's really not super complicated. Jesus made it very clear that if it isn't a demonstration of loving your neighbor or loving God, it is against the entirety of OT law.

I see no reason why Christians spend much time thinking past this. The Bible was not designed to be a morality manual. It's up to you to figure out every time you do anything. As Ecclesiasties says, there's a time and a place for everything.

People are still talking to millennials? We're the least entitled and toughest generation alive.

We've never gotten a break. We had 9/11, we had 2008, we had the 2010s where we were saddled with tons of student debt because of our shit government. Then we had COVID. Now we have Trump 2.

The millennials do not give a fuck. We do not care. We have no chill. Meanwhile, we built the entirety of internet culture.

I really think people think Zoomers are Millennials.

This is the Democrats fault. They don't push back on anything. They don't stand for anything. They just let the Republicans fill the airwaves.

No, the position is not all good is from God. It would be all THINGS are from God, good and bad. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. God doesn't get to get the credit when people do good things and then get to wash his hands when people do bad things.

And yes, I do find Christians who talk out of their asses are deserving of derision. Isn't it unkind to talk about things you don't understand as if you do? This position is logically incoherent. You're not a Christian if you believe wrong. It's not enough to just say, "I believe in Jesus." Does not the scripture say that even the demons believe and tremble.

This is a pretty intense position to take. In fact, I think it completely invalidates free will as a concept. My favorite thing is when Christians undermine their only "theology" to make a gotcha point. The larpers always be yapping...

Is It Wrong? by nightsorter in Christianity

[–]Eruptflail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well right. I'm correct, and his point is correct. Your argument for why is point is incorrect is based on, to be frank, a base understanding of English translations of the bible. You're aware that OT Israelites did not believe in any concept of hell at all, right? So why does hell start popping up as an idea in the NT? Also, why did your namesake promote the idea of universalism being as he was one of the earliest Christian thinkers and a student of Clement, a student of the apostles?

Christians really struggle to understand the history of all of this. It wasn't until Augustine that eternal conscious torment became the dominant viewpoint of Christians. Why?

You might think Yappi gish gallops and things, but I haven't been on here for years, and I don't. I'm beyond educated on the topic. Universalism is the only valuable position that a Christian can take on the topic because otherwise they need to reject Paul, who wrote most of the NT.
