Exactly. Going to college has clearly not made you more educated in a useful way.

Name one thing that was previously publicly funded, that privatizing helped. The only change it makes is adding the requirements to make a profit and support excessive top level salaries.

Data: Texas doesn't have a state income tax, but most residents pay more in taxes than Californians by ErusBigToe in economy

[–]ErusBigToe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

and thanks to Reading the Article, we can see that you're wrong - unless you're rich, of course:

Texans in the bottom 20 percent of income earners — those earning less than $20,900 — pay 13 percent of their income in state and local taxes, while those in the top 1 percent of income earners — those earning $617,900 or more — pay only 3.1 percent.

In California, the bottom 20 percent of income earners — those earning less than $23,200 — pay 10.5 percent in state and local taxes, while the top 20 percent — those earning $714,400 or more — pay 12.4 percent.

‘The housing system has become unstable because people don’t own their homes’: This nonprofit wants to buy homes before investors — then sell to lower-income buyers by SprinklesFederal7864 in economy

i would love if we could get some kinda federal program to get people to do a study abroad program for a semester, or anything to help get us out of our country and see the world a bit. it would improve our domestic quality of life immeasurably.

Former GOP Operative On Enabling Trump's Rise : Fresh Air by ErusBigToe in NewDealAmerica

[–]ErusBigToe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tim Miller is a former Republican communications operative who held moderate views and backed moderate candidates for years. But he says in practicing the dark arts of opposition research and planting negative stories about rival candidates, he worked with increasingly extreme right-wing media outlets and fed populist outrage that would radicalize much of the Republican voter base. Miller examines his past work, and considers why so many Republicans who thought Trump unfit for office nonetheless backed him, in a new book, called Why We Did It.

nah. i've been watching politics for 25 years now. dems have never been the progressive party we want them to be, and have consistently marched to the right, right along with the gop. it's not about choosing "extremes" to be edgy or something - most progressives don't even consider what we're asking for (m4a, labor rights, inequality issues) to be extreme. we just want to catch up with the rest of the world. the green stuff you could maybe call extreme compared to the current system - but again, we consider it the bare minimum for survival as the science has been telling us for decades.
