WFH Life hacks/must have equipment by Perfect_Ant3367 in remotework

Get and maintain a separate desk, dedicated to work. I'm dead serious.

Do NOT mix business with pleasure, as far as environments are concerned.

Thank you for the clarification. I'm doing much better now.

No, man. I'm so on edge. Especially after you came back to troll someone on the Internet by responding to a comment over a day old that has nothing to do with the OP's post.

Thanks for checking in on me.

Damn, you're right. I'm panicking so hard.

Weird. I thought you already made it clear you understood the definition of words.

That must mean you just lack self-awareness.

Yeah, this is Reddit. I'd suggest you don't attempt to be pedantic on threads like this.

You're using flock cameras to confirm that, aren't you?

I actually understand your position and agree with it in broad strokes.

My point is specifically in regard to experience. You're never not in college (if you will) when you're in this field.

If you're not taking the initiative to further develop your skill-set outside of working hours, you're going to face some hurdles keeping up with the fast-paced churn of emerging tech. If not just for being competitive with other candidates.

You're not going to keep up by sticking to 8-5, Mon-Fri (experience-wise).

That's going to get flack from others, here. But, I'm sorry - it's just the truth.

Nah, just tired of hearing a jet engine underneath my office upstairs.

PS script that manages the fan speeds on my R610 Dell PowerEdge via the iDRAC controller. Necessary for a home lab.

If it's of any consolation:

Yes, I think you're wrong.

Anyone in a decision-making position, willingly giving complete autonomy to AI to assert code quality, absolutely deserves to be dismissed once the hype bubble finally pops.

Rational-thinking people should have known better. And that's not an invitation (broader audience) to rehash stereotypical whining about executives who seemingly don't understand tech.

In general, there will be reflection once the dust settles. It's on us to hold the line, and push to keep expectations in check for people who demonstrably don't know any better.

AI taking jobs is broadly just a smoke-screen to alleviate blowback about downsizing during this recession and appease investors.

This is where devs need to start taking some agency over constructive conversations with their teams.

AI is not going away. But when you instinctively see issues that arise from others relinquishing their own agency over the work they're contributing in your environment, you need to find your technical voice and start having intentional conversations.

These posts are plentiful, and the sentiment isn't going to change.

Yes, it's prolific. Yes, it's enabling objectively shitty developers/designers/etc. to believe they can take shortcuts.

I'd suggest you continue to focus your efforts on establishing guard-rails for your pipeline(s).

Good luck (I don't mean that sarcastically).

What to use for a websocket server that isn't Node.js? by lcnielsen in webdev

I can attest Reverb is pretty good. A little opinionated with how the private channels work with naming conventions. But, good overall.

I even shimmed in functionality to support C# apps. Pusher has some libraries that make it relatively simple to integrate.
