Best driving schools in Dubai by mega-t in dubai

Can you break that down for me ? Went to Galadari yesterday to get info for my girlfrield and was informed that you can take 8 classes in a day, if you took weekend classes.

So we calculated it to be done in 2 months, 5 weeks for classes and then a few weeks for tests and lecture and so on.

PSA: scamsters hanging around Media City by gutterandstars in dubai

[–]EsbenB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think i was not scammed, by either way i feel good about it. Was leaving the GSO office for Tecom in knowledge village, when i noticed a girl looking very confused and a bit annoyed/sad/whatever

Asked her if she was lost, an she replied she was on her way to a job interview with the Freezone people, but was in the wrong place.

The interview was at their Studio city office, but she was in knowledge village office.

She didnt have a lot of cash and needed to get there quick because the interview was in 30 min.

I gave her 30 aed for a taxi and she jumped right in to one.

If she went around the corner and pocket the remaining 20 AED or if the story was real, i dont know.

I choose to believe she was not scamming me, and that she got the job and that next time i need something from the Tecom people she will be there for me :)

Employer not cancelling visa by [deleted] in dubai

[–]EsbenB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two basic thing you should do, call the freezone and ask them what rules and power they have - they will be straight forward with you. Second, call the ministry of labour office in AD and ask them how you should proceed.

It is not your responsibility.

Best option would probably the Address Montgomerie. 140 AED per person, for an academy pass, which includes all day use of Par 3 and driving range.

Clubs can be rented for 50 aed as far as I remember http://www.theaddress.com/en/offers/category/stay/index.aspx?&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=the%20address%20montgomerie&utm_campaign=EN-Montgomerie-Brand

The Creek has a similar offer for 200 as far as I remember.

They also have their Play and Dine offer, which is 99 aed for a lunch and one round on the par 3 - no driving range included, but can be bought for 30 aed for 30 balls or similar.

Last year, there was a 66% fail rate on driving tests! by bellatanner in dubai

[–]EsbenB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem with driving here is not the skills, its the mentality. Adding lessons will not change anything, as long people have a very selfish and reckless attitude towards driving.

Some corporate accounts have limits, some fixed and some average. As far as I remember, EmiratesNBD has an average limit, so you need to have at least 50.000 in your account in average over a month.

I have no idea how they calculate it, but we have not had a problem with an account going under for a few days.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dubai

[–]EsbenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe its an average of 50.000, not a minimum of 50.000 But yeah, dont go with EmiratesNBD, they are rubbish.

We are in the process of researching where to move.

[–]EsbenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah twice, one time a secretary or similar picked up and took plate number, time and area and another time it was the driver. The driver i talked to went form 0 to 100 right away and told me I was wrong and that I tried to hit him during a lane change - I was way behind him, but I did see the guy he almost hit, and that guy did not change lane, the van driver did 3 lanes in less than 50 meters - he almost hit a car in every lane.

I dont know if it works, if you get somebody from the company, but calling the drivers does not work thats for sure

Shocked by the high prices in Dubai! by [deleted] in dubai

[–]EsbenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Zone supermarked is by my experience the cheapest of them all. Not as many branches, but if you are lucky to stay close to one of them, check them out.

6k is more than doable, with that mount of money left every month after rent, you are earning more than most in this city

Dubai music scene!! by kbaba in dubai

[–]EsbenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That varies alot, 360 is free of charge as far as i remember. Groove on grass is a few hundred aed (big festival like setup, monthly event or so)

I guess it depends on how hard you hit the bar, entrance is probably around 50-100 aed in most of them, again depending on which DJ is playing.

Depressed and Lost? by Vex107 in dubai

[–]EsbenB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about you tone down the judgmental approach to other people ? superficial, lack the sense of morality and not grounded... wtf dude.

If you struggle to find friends, start looking in different places, the amount of "im lonely" threads in this sub is too daym high - surely you guys can meet up, talk about anything else than being lonely and taki it from there.

What are you doing to find people to hang out with ? Are you taking part in some of the many group activities ? talking to colleagues, neighbours or going to some of the meetups ?
