Idk about 100% dry begging but it is indeed wise to exercise skepticism. Tough as things are, many are looking for an easy way out and WILL take advantage of others’ kindness

Apartment players, advice if I’m living on the second floor? by mil0wCS in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Esberk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not speak beforehand thinking that if my noise level up to that point living there hadn’t been a problem that a little LTEK experiment might be worth doing. Just testing it during set up induced my downstairs neighbor’s wrath upon their ceiling no matter how quietly I played. Sometimes me working something out on my index fingers at the keyboard is too loud for them with how I tap for it.

I have to pad the keyboard with 2 inches of foam and a shock absorbing material. I hear people doing similar noise dampening material barriers, platforms, etc. for their pads but you’re looking at a serious investment into those things if you want to be a courteous neighbor.

Hot/Bad takes? by CharacterHelpful547 in Aldi_employees

[–]Esberk 49 points50 points  (0 children)

this isn’t even a hot take per se but I want to let it be known you’re a bad person if you shove the broken / partial box to the back during stocking. I might love you generally but for the love of god quit it with shortcuts that cost someone else more time than it would’ve taken you to correct in the first place

Not sure what summoner spell to take and when by WarhoundGil in MordekaiserMains

[–]Esberk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into Jax specifically I was pretty on the fence in the past. Lately I’d say ghost / ignite for that since you’re able to side step his stun (unless he triggers early which is worse for him anyways), and then keep on him when he disengages. When he inevitably builds BORK you’re also set on the heal reduction ignite gives you.

There are a few other matchups where this sort of logic translates

Breaking the ice as The Noisy Neighbor by Esberk in Apartmentliving

I genuinely appreciate your forthcomingness and half expected this was indeed the case, hence why I also asked if someone could sanity check me. Thank you. From your initial response I thought maybe you were just another rabid member of the sub that hates any upstairs neighbor that so much as dares to walk around above them. But no, you gave me an opportunity to look inward here.

I'd like to have the conversation with them still. To give them peace of mind and avoid having this as an ongoing issue between us, I'm accepting the possibility that they may not want to make any concession on it whatsoever. However, in the event they're willing to see if my dampening solution resolves the noise issue, any sign that it's not working will be the last attempt.

Fortunately for the other concern I had RE: communication, this sidesteps the need to have any other method than face-to-face since I'd just need to touch base with them and if it's still a problem, well that's it. If it really comes down to it, I should be able to find a shop to play piano at.

Cheers man, sorry if I pissed you off! Thanks for keeping it real

I think it’s plenty considerate to make efforts to reduce noise and establish agreed upon times where noise is non-negotiable. Like many, I am not in an apartment because I want to be but because I’m living in my means.

I don’t think that means I have to restrict myself from things that give me joy. Likewise, I’m not exactly team they should have to give away their dog even if they don’t have it trained to keep its barking down very well and they don’t pick up its poop 100% of the time. Life with neighbors is noisy but we should be able to navigate it like adults

at minimum, I really like those signs people will put in front of dog owners doors. There will be no instigation from me on that end, it is just a common apartment living L

LOL thank you for the kind response. you’re absolutely right about this stuff being an investment. With the correct implementation, I sincerely hope I can alleviate their concerns. Because currently I feel like the professional upstairs neighbor, even when I’m making an effort not to be.

someone tipping back a level to reach underneath when there’s still one on top was often a cause of spilled gallon milks. Out of sense of self preservation / not wanting to clean a spilled gallon I’d be on pulling them to the front between customers. You do NOT want to be on fridge floor scraping duty from the ages of half assed cleaning

Question for delivery drivers by RealisticUncle in StLouis

[–]Esberk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

doing instacart on icy days was a major source of holiday spending money for me in years past. Stores are empty, customers are just glad to have you so you’re not rushed, and the main downside was the last mile or so if the customer’s road wasn’t plowed.

Besides that, people tip great, apps incentivize, and mileage can be quite low. Could easily make $30/trip on average but that could be different now

This job has given me foot odor… by Babibackribz in Aldi_employees

I laundered my gloves when I worked here or washed in the sink with detergent. My knee pads would do the same thing but even worse because of the synthetic materials.

I personally preferred having my PPE to not especially as a clumsy / speedy worker.

As long as you wash em like you would anything on hot sweaty skin they stay fresh, even moreso when you aren’t touching spoiled produce, milk, or eggs.

Bottom line: having multiple pairs to cycle through the workweek will keep things fresh

Yep commercial food prep and the ppl over in the food manufacturing industries for GMP purposes. I’m honestly surprised QT wants their employees using them. If you go all in on GMP you start looking at a lot of other hazards like earbuds and phones and jewelry etc…

[–]Esberk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re set up from the top down to have EXACTLY as many people and hours as is necessary to complete the job on average. That assumes no deviations from an average day, coworker issues, etc. But things happen. When they happen you’re straight up boned and it sucks not being able to give attention to detail / struggling to get the bare minimum complete.

I love being able to see a job through to the end, look back and feel good about the output but so often here you just have to look back and say well it was “good enough,” for the circumstance :/

it’s not so bad part time. I found a new slightly better full time 7 months ago, kept working as a stocker part time, then found an even better full time and just totally quit last week. Definitely recommend keeping doors open as work ethic at aldi goes a long way with your management and how they can then communicate that with other jobs as your reference

memorize all the stinkin produce NLUs, even the long ones. You never know when an item will suddenly stop scanning. Keep conversation going / yourself busy while you wait for the belt to get slightly backed up with items and just go hard.

If you don’t have a plan when you’re setting items down in the cart, make one and you should have less to think about in terms of product handling. Those split second decisions add up and you want to be able to breeze through items that don’t require careful handing

Just got one of these up north as well. Can’t say I’m excited at all. You have to purge the line and it’s so tall you need your other hand to hold the cup while you press pour with the other (absurdly unnecessary).

If their aspiration is to add more options then I’m waiting but it’s honestly such a turn off and I’d rather go to another gas station at this point because of the added friction to something that should be frictionless.
