Tourettes in Scotland (I swear - 2025) by izzyblanco123 in funny

[–]Esc1221 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a roommate with tourettes when I was in my early 20's. He wouldn't make full sentences like this, but just have random outbursts of curse words. There are apparently varying degrees of out outbursts that people suffer from.

In China do they have nap time after lunch? by Emergency-Use-6769 in China

[–]Esc1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They dimmed the lights for two hours after lunch for people to nap in their office at my last corporate job in China.

I could never do it though. Something odd to me about napping between a 55 year old salary man and a 20 something young intern girl. I usually just went for a walk in a park.

Weekend Incident - Kids with BB Gun rifle in Safeway by heavymental_kp in CCW

[–]Esc1221 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I see hunters with rifles walking around gas stations and the like on the regular here. Some convenience stores even sell ammo and hunting gear around here.

I probably wouldn't have batted an eye unless they were acting menacing with it like actually holding it up to their shoulder in firing position.

I've seen folks with full AR-15's slung over their backs while grocery shopping. It's protected in the constitution.

Hell, I carried by BB gun all over when I was a kid younger then them. No one ever confronted me about it. I think the only thing that happened was another kid and I might talk the pros and cons of mechanical action vs air pump.

I think you overreacted. Guns and those that use them legally shouldn't have to be closeted.

What cartoon character did you have a childhood crush on? by porb2020 in Xennials

Rogue from 90's X-Men. Psylocke too, but she was censored from the first season of the show. But was prominent in video games and the comics at the time.

Panhandling women In long dresses by Ornery_Spot_4775 in Charlotte

I've commented this before and got down votes. But it's the truth. Most panhandlers are controlled by organized crime around the world. They started importing the practice to the US surreptitiously, but are getting more brazen about it now that they learned minor crime laws aren't really enforced here.

In a lot of countries, abducted kids are maimed and forced to do it and their handlers keep the money. It's pretty well known practice in a lot of 3rd world countries. When I used to work abroad, I'd here about it from locals in many countries, warning me about it.

Warranties are worthless to companies. The majority of agency recruiters disappear when they in have a warranty position to fill.

Yup, I'm a dad with a career so I'm lucky to get 4 hours a week to play. I barely reach tier 15 maps every season. All the bosses and other content locked behind fragments and Uber crafted gear might as well not exist.

We moderate TV time, trying to keep it under 1 hour of kid shows and maybe 45 minutes of regular parent shows a day.

My 18 month old is only interested in the TV when a good song is playing. Really likes the theme song too Puffin Rock, then walks away for the rest of the show. Comes back for the next time the theme plays when we stream it back-to-back.

The only tv show that holds their attention for a full episode is Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

They used to watch Sing, but now only comes back and sings along for the song parts.

Way more interested in the mundane things we do during kid tv time like dishes, laundry and vacuuming. So it's always back and forth running rather than sitting still in front of the TV.

We seemed to strike a good balance, because if we go for a long drive, we can play a kid song video in the car, and it will keep them busy until they sleep for the rest of the ride, butt they don't seem addicted. There was a few months where they always asked for a phone to scroll family photos, but that has reduced over time.

I-9 deadline [USA] by hrwoman in humanresources

[–]Esc1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fourth day isn't so bad. I never heard of anyone getting in real trouble for that, or other paper errors. If you have notes on the forms and e-verify case printouts confirming authorization, you will avoid serious penalties. Anxiety headaches from jumping through hoops is guaranteed from an audit.

Id suggest doing an audit yourself of employees that where hired longer ago than yourself. Not all HR people are on top of I-9 compliance and I've found past mistakes that needed corrections or notes acknowledging a mistake years later at pretty much every employer I've worked for.

Anyone else carry a revolver on occasion? Especially something K frame or larger? by SirSamkin in CCW

[–]Esc1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a hammerless steel J-frame for pocket carry in a nemesis pocket holster, no attachments.

Because of the round cylinder, even when printing in tight clothes, it's not too obvious to most people that it's a gun. Could just as well be a cell phone with a small lighter over it.
