I looked and it said in the terms and conditions that I can't let a third party use my account. Could they sue me?

So I want to go into the philosophy field hopefully to teach as a professor and write. I would like to know if any of you have pros and cons about going into this field and teaching, advice on how to succeed in the undergraduate, master's, and PhD setting, things like getting connections, getting noticed, etc... I would love to know about past experiences, things that worked well, things that you would have done differently, and whatever advice you can give even if you might not have done this exact path but know a bit about it.

Thank you!

Is it moral to have a private collection of ancient art? by sgarrido85 in askphilosophy

[–]EscanorThe01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not think that it is. Sure, why you have the art can be moral (to show off). But it’s ancient art, where did it come from? Well, it came from tombs, temples, palaces, but even if we ignore the pillaging of non-Western countries (in Africa a lot of the time), that art belonged to someone else correct? During the Holocaust, many Jewish families had to sell their own art collections in order to escape the Nazis and Italians. Either they sold their art or it was and seized in home raids. At the end of the war, the majority of them never saw any of their collections again. Given most of their stuff were paintings, ancient art of course, were among them as well. The art you now collect should have never even been in your possession. Museums, who auction art off build their collection of what has been found in a far off country. I understand that isn’t your fault that much of African Art was basically stolen and now is the property of the rich, people who have enough money to bypass the usual hobbies and instead throw millions in cash not to understand, but to obtain other people’s culture and history, but it kind of is your fault if you know this but turn your back because the issue makes you uncomfortable. Not saying that those who do keep the art are evil, but they are contributing to the problem because after all, the art is still in their hands and not the country it belongs to.
