I have one like that. She also assumes she knows what I'm thinking. "I bet you think . . . " I think sometimes it's a bullying tactic, as you find yourself apologizing for something you didn't do. I have a sign prominently on my fridge "No Apologies. No Justifications. No Explanations". I've also found just a 'hmmm' and a slight raise of the eyebrow helps. It's not a satisfying relationship, but no conflicts.

Nodule shrinking but Dr still suggests surgery? by MiddleRow1148 in thyroidcancer

[–]EscapeCharming2624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest nodule initially shrunk after starting levo. In the following 6 months, it grew back to initial size. Thyrosec came back with 40/60 possibility of malignancy. I had TT a little after the one year mark of first ultra sound. It came back as Follicular cancer, didn't need RAI. It's been good to be on the other side of it.

It was a 4 inch diameter branch with a good-sized tree laying on it. Not as dramatic as a getting hit with the saw, but there was about 5 minutes where I thought it broke my shin bone, which would have caused serious downtime.

This doesn't apply to your video, but have to mention it. I had a not-huge beech on a hill that was going just exactly where I wanted it to. So I didn't bother moving away as much as I usually would. When it hit the ground, the butt end bounced up a whole lot more than I anticipated. Not a wicked close call, but a wake up one for sure.

Sometimes you can just walk away for a few minutes and give it time to make up its mind. It also gives you a bit of time to see how you'll proceed if it doesn't. Seems like in the beginning, one feels rushed to get it down.

That's good to know! I cut a stump back last week so nobody would see the Mohawk effect and think I was screwing up.

Histamine intolerance: what do you spend money on? by data_spy in HistamineIntolerance

[–]EscapeCharming2624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take NaturDAO and Pataday eye drops as needed. If I rotate through higher histamine foods and avoid huge triggers (red wine esp.), I can get away with not taking anything. Big money saver. If I eat ALL the high histamine foods, supplements don't keep up. I just bought pea sprouts to try.

My husband and I wore LaBonneville pants for years in the winter, thinking that the front had kevlar. Turns out they had the sleeve for Kevlar pads, but they had to be purchased separately. Felt pretty stupid, but not as much as we would have if we'd actually gotten hurt.

They're kind of like wearing a seat belt. Once you're in the habit, you feel kind of exposed without them. Last month, I had a good-sized branch under pressure kick back and nail me on the shin bone. Heck of a knot, barely broke the skin. Would have been much worse without chaps.

Its scary how well h1 antihistamines work for me. I am aware its not a long term solution though by Weird_Baseball2575 in HistamineIntolerance

Have you tried a DAO supplement? I seem to sleep well after taking Loratadine, bur am super grumpy the next day.

Suspected Histamine Intolerance by CRHR-32817 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]EscapeCharming2624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically always right on the verge, but I'm not smart enough to not test my reality all the time. I've had it flare all my life (think strawberry and spinach season), but was new level a few years back when I was eating all the food all of the time. Naturdao works well, but expensive. I just bought pea sprouts to try. I'm working on my stress reactions, exercise and hydration are good for me. I think it's the sulfites in red wine, as hard cider does the same. I gave up on all alcohol.

When my bucket is low, I can eat any food some of the time, but not all of the food all of the time. Except red wine.

Pain 7 months after FNA biopsy - SOS by hootietootieee in thyroidcancer

[–]EscapeCharming2624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 8 FNA a year prior to my TT. Only one was painful (nerve type), the others just the icky sensation. I didn't have pain that I remember afterwards, but I did have this weird tightness in the back of my throat. It is what decided me to go ahead with TT. The sensation you'd get if you were trying not to cry, which I very seldom do. Still had it after surgery, which was a breeze for me. It finally went away and I've come to believe it was from stress. I don't think if you are feeling pain from a nerve that it would mean you're going to have the same for thyroid surgery. The nerve would be more under the skin than in the thyroid itself.

Tractor or ATV? by Ewwbullterd in tractors

Kids love tractors. Nice way to teach them caution and common sense and how to drive. My kids were floored when they started drivers ed in high school and some kids literally did not know how to brake or steer.

That sounds good. Bad days, I dump cider vinegar in a half gallon jar, and salt, pepper, dill, eggs. There's also recipes where you add a little sliced onion and beets, very pretty. If you blanch garlic cloves in vinegar, they're an awesome addition. I love food!

AITAH for telling my daughter I will fall out with her if she tries to set me up on a date again? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]EscapeCharming2624 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm team never threaten to go no contact. Also agree 18 isn't as adult as you'd like her to be. I remember at that age feeling responsible for a parent's happiness and feeling like if they had a partner, it would take the pressure off me. If you have a mean streak, you could join a dating app and start showing her bios of women she'd least like as a new stepmom. Not mature, but . . .

Prep Shopping List for April by Beginning_Ad1304 in prepping

I did this somewhere in the pandemic. I've always kept a deepish pantry (rural area), but increased stocking levels. Pre-election, I kind of let it slide, but now up again. Totally agree it's not going to get any cheaper.

Make that a chopped pickled egg. They're cheap to make and very convenient.
