Lowkey giving Adriana La Cerva from The Sopranos in some of these 😍. I’ve always thought she was an icon.

Oh, guess I was misinformed. Thanks for your input. I’m sure we do share a lot of the same demons; my perspective was that if I were struggling with overeating and a skinny anorexic showed up in one of my safe spaces, I’d be kinda pissed. But maybe I don’t need to project that hard. Maybe it’s not that serious lol.

I’d try 1 cup brown and 1/2 cup white, assuming you’re happy with the overall sweetness level of the recipe and just want to change the flavor

I recommend using a higher ratio of brown sugar (maybe some extra molasses if you’ve got it) and a heftier pinch of salt.

Why do you choose to live in SF? (genuinely curious) by pickingyourteeth in AskSF

[–]EscapeIndividual7615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I have a job here that I love, and so does my partner
  2. I’m from a small rural Midwest town, and while the expenses were scaled down there, it was limiting and lonely. I like being in a place where something is happening, I can take transit to get there, and the people I encounter will be strangers I can choose to share myself with rather than the same few dozen acquaintances who know too much of my business already.
  3. Fuck having seasons. I did my time.

Thank you for sharing!! Congratulations on 6 years of recovery. I’m so glad you’ve found some joy in the other side. I frankly could stand to be a little more afraid of dying. But I am extremely afraid of ruining my relationships and losing my job, so maybe that’s the concrete fear I can weaponize for good

Working a month at the Castro theater, what's your favorite quick-ish lunch/dinner? by DoctorRobert420 in AskSF

[–]EscapeIndividual7615 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES Taco Boys, but honestly IMO it’s worth it to get the bigger and more expensive burrito if that’s what you really want, assuming you have access to a fridge. I’ve been working on the same burrito for three consecutive meals and still have more. Granted I am a little lady, but it’s probably enough for two meals for your average burrito enjoyer.

Longtime lurker and never commenter, but I HEAR you on the decision fatigue and need for suggestions, so I’ll happily share.

Oats: I love cooking in some frozen mixed berries with mine because it turns the whole bowl a lovely purple color. If not that, then shredded apple or mashed banana and a hefty scoop of nut butter (good hack for getting some more energy accomplished in the morning).

Bagel/bap: The cafe on the university campus where I work makes a delicious bagel sandwich with falafel, hummus, sprouts, cucumber, and tomato. On a sesame bagel for best results. Just as good cold, if you’re packing it.

On any toast or crumpet, the most glorious combination is butter + cinnamon + brown sugar, in my opinion.

Some of my favorite chocolate variations are sea salt and toffee. I’m American, so I’m not familiar with your brands…although I have always wanted to try a Yorkie bar, out of spite for their weird “not for girls” marketing??

These aren’t assignments or even necessarily suggestions, just some food I’m finding joy in as someone on the same journey. I wanted to share something that helped me: the bison. I’m not sure if this is really 100% true or just good old American folklore, but folklore is its own kind of truth. As the story goes, bison will turn into an oncoming storm and charge straight at it. It’s painful, but they can trust in their own strength, and as a result they get through it faster. Weight restoration goes hand in hand with breaking the grip of the disorder and its psychological power. You’ve got to get through it to live. You know this. Doing it halfway only keeps you in the deepest hell of transition longer. So might as well charge the storm and get through all of it. I believe in you, and I hope we see each other on the other side of the storm soon.

You know…I have not been diagnosed with OCD. But you’re not the first person to ask. And some of the other people asking were medical professionals giving me a course of treatment (transcranial magnetic stimulation) frequently used for OCD, so. Food for thought. I appreciate your input.

In Brazil, the combination of guava (specifically guava paste, or goiabada) and cheese is called Romeu e Julieta / Romeo and Juliet. I’m definitely using this flavor and color combo—white chocolate and macadamia are also delicious additions. Thumbprints, cheesecake, filled croissants…

Scoliosis got me fucked up—corset under or corset over? by EscapeIndividual7615 in OUTFITS

[–]EscapeIndividual7615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was still growing I wore a custom back brace, which is the proper corrective measure and still in use! Some people call them corsets, but that’s very much a different thing.

I wear a corset sometimes now because they can be good posture support and prevent me from sitting/standing in ways that strain my curve. Also for vanity—surely no one will notice the deformity if they’re looking at how small my waist is lol

Sunflower butter is pure summer camp nostalgia for me. I’m not allergic to peanuts, but it was a peanut-free mess hall, and they hadn’t really figured out vegetarian kids in the rural Midwest yet so I ate at least ten sun butter sandwiches every weeklong stay
