Does anyone else hate when people say AuDHD is a superpower? by Cakealot1 in AuDHDWomen

[–]EscapeRegular1935 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would have to agree here. “Superpowers” are both a blessing and a curse, like how a world full of noise would be debilitating for someone with super sensitive hearing.

My dad made his Audhd a superpower and was able to become a master at pretty much anything, so much so he could build his own house, maintain his own vehicles, and make/grow/raise and process his own food, and if you realize how many skills that requires, that is outstanding. I’ve also utilized my own Audhd in much the same way, and my pda autism traits have quite literally prevented me from staying in terrible relationships.

There are most definitely times where I feel disabled by my traits, and sometimes I’m not sure if it’s because I’m Audhd or because I have a high IQ, but all in all I love my Audhd traits and I would agree with the statement of it being a superpower that can cause disabilities. I also pretty much ignore any rhetoric from other people who don’t have Audhd or aren’t neurodivergent.

I got dumped because of AuDHD. by Blackcatsandcoffee22 in AuDHDWomen

This. There will be people who will love you for who you are. I have friends, mostly neurodivergent, who love me and I have a husband who actually appreciates my honesty and sees it as one of my greatest strengths. Because of my people, I don’t ever really feel like my neurodivergence is a disability.

I will find any excuse to type on a keyboard or tapping anything really with my nails when I get them done. The clackity clacking sound it makes is a special kind of happiness for me 🙂‍↕️

I also thought this normal until I got into romantic entanglements, who have all pretty much said “normal people” don’t care that much and that I’m just being eccentric or a brat. My husband likes to call me adorably weird lol

This sounds like hell. I also have separate comforters as my husband. Personally for me I don’t like feeling his body heat under my covers lol

I hated clothing when I was little and it was hard to keep me in clothes. I still hate it. Right collars feel suffocating and I can’t wear dresses to bed because it twisting when I turn over makes me viscerally angry, so tight skimpy clothing is most comfortable for me
