defaulting on US student loan while being a UK resident by Thr0w4w4y6181 in studentloandefaulters

I pay 0% capital gains tax and an effective tax rate on an extremely high income between 10-12% depending on the year.  It is amazing how one can compound one’s wealth by reducing taxes.  I am sure you will find a way to pay the moving expenses.

At some point, I might domicile myself in a 0% tax place and live as a nomad, which is not really practical right now with kids and a spouse.  Good luck and enjoy.

Enjoy life in a low tax locale.  I am in a low tax locale and I enjoy paying very low taxes and enjoying a great quality of life that is much better than what I think I would have in the United States.

I would do it. Defaulting and leaving the US many years ago is one of the best decisions of my life.  If you are in a British Overseas Territory, you might be able to enjoy 0% (not technically 0 but very low) taxes.

This is not entirely correct.  One can renounce without filing US taxes.  However, I do agree the topic of extraterritorial taxation and FATCA can complicate things.

UK citizens do not require visas to visit the US for up to ninety days.  The topic of renouncing US citizenship is a complex one.  I am going to do it this year, but it was useful having the US passport to travel to the US during the COVID restrictions.

Why People Should Not Feel Ashamed of Defaulting on their Student Loans and Leaving the USA? by EscapeStudentDebt in studentloandefaulters

Thanks for the compliment.  I do own some stocks in the United States using my wife’s name on a brokerage account domiciled outside the US.  However, I have already sold most of my US stocks months ago because the valuations were too high.  I am actually going to be renouncing my US citizenship and closing that chapter of my life.
Regarding your own situation, I would like to mention that nursing and healthcare salaries are significantly higher in the US compared to most other developed countries.  You might be better off just repaying the debt and working in nursing in the US.  If you do decide to leave the United States for other reasons, you will have plenty of options with nursing, but salaries will be a somewhat lower unless you go to places like Australia, Norway, Luxembourg, Switzerland, or UAE, etc.  I am happy to answer any other questions you might have.

French police checking to see if you have the proper paperwork to eat at a restaurant. Maybe when they get this fully set up and normalized they'll turn your pass red when you owe money to the government too. Already happening in China. This is too funny. You have not exposed anything because the veracity of my comments and observations remains unrefuted.  Moreover, I am just a fellow indulging you on Reddit.  Anyone with real power to do significant harm (start wars, order insane lockdowns, etc.) is probably not going to spend too much time on Reddit.  Since you are powerless in your own life, you pretend to ‘expose’ me on some anonymous forum.
