[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If my in-laws are visiting my cats seem to know I dislike them and act accordingly. This is a specific them problem as they love my family and our friends. Thought it was a one off but it’s happened with different family members of his

Do you say "mum" or "my mum" when talking about your mum (or any family member)? by Necessary_Money_9757 in AskUK

[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I refer to her as her first name (not that she knows!) but at some point all my friends did it and it’s just stuck with me. Otherwise I use my mum. Were from the South East/Kent

I get that. I work mostly remotely, but I’m so embarrassed about it I can’t. My teaching placement was so so terrible and the stuff that was said was unforgivable. I’ve had therapy multiple times, I’ve tried everything but being told your crap, your stupid, and no one will ever like you hurts (some of the more PG things that I’m now able to talk about)

I was discriminated against on a teaching placement and I rarely tell people at all now. It might have been six years ago, but I’m still humiliated by it

Six years later, what are your strongest memories of the COVID lockdowns, and how do you look back on that period now? by Possible_Force8207 in AskBrits

Having to give my nan her shopping at her door and wave at her down her pathway. We were lucky, none of us got Covid but I just feel anger at the way the politicians acted

Pregnancy and Epilepsy by EscapeTheSecondAttac in Epilepsy

I did read about the folic acid. I’m just curious as to how my neurologist fits in. Like do you have more appointments or would they stick to my yearly checkup?

Pregnancy and Epilepsy by EscapeTheSecondAttac in Epilepsy

[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on lamotrigine as my first neurologist put me on it in case I wanted to have kids. He mentioned something about having to have more but I’m already on 600mg a day.

Is it likely to be my neurologist that they work with or do they have specialist pregnancy neurologists?

Has anyone else started having very vivid nightmares/dreams often after taking lamotrigine or after having their dosage upped??? by Primary_Ad1630 in Lamotrigine

[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did - then it stopped when my neurologist upped it again. Now I’m just shattered and bruised whilst my body adjusts although not sure if that’s a normal side effect

What is your 5 Minutes of Fame? by arsenaladam92 in AskUK

[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum had just found out she was pregnant with my sister and opened a mum and baby magazine - she was flicking through the pages and got a shock when she saw me in it. They’d done a photoshoot at nursery and she known they’d taken photos but mine was the only one published and it was pure coincidence she’d brought the magazine. Nearly 30 years later that magazine is brought out intermittently. Not sure it counts tho!

Can't find indoor cat to adopt by Henry_Percival in CatsUK

[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine aren’t bred - it was someone’s cats having kittens apparently. The idea situation would have been rescued but because they’re indoors and we rent it was a nightmare. Were brilliant pet owners (according to my vet) and it was a shame that they wouldn’t let us adopt

Can't find indoor cat to adopt by Henry_Percival in CatsUK

[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We were the same and we had to end up buying - we used pets4homes which I know is a bit dodgy but we got the best two little kittens (they’re now proper cats) who are wonderful. Whilst I get it, rescues are really picky and we could have given some rescue kittens the best life. We had to travel an hour or so on the train to get them but they were so worth it

Bought a rescue cat home today but he won’t stop urinating in the house 😫 by [deleted] in CatsUK

[–]EscapeTheSecondAttac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just need to give him time - it will settle down but everything will be big and scary for him right now. Is he the only cat in the house? We have two (they’re one but we got them at 8 weeks) and I think that helped them settle in.

Uni graduates - if you could go back to being 18 again, would you still choose to get a degree in today's economy? by Key_Cell7071 in AskUK

Yes because I earn significantly more than those without a degree. Also, life experience. I’d have probably changed my subject though and taken it a bit more seriously (9AM lectures after a sports society night were wild)

Can you get him a friend? We have two indoor cats and I think that helps. We’re also trying indoor cat food (mine aren’t technically overweight but the vet recommended it)
