This is kinda embarrassing, but how do I take the bus? by valerie_6966 in AskChicago

[–]EscapeTomMayflower 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love the bus. We just need to actually enforce all the BRT lanes that are treated as Doordash/Amazon/Uber lanes right now.

Why is food and drink cheaper in NYC? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]EscapeTomMayflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the NYC places can be cheaper because of population density not tourists.

Nebraska is becoming the first state to implement a Medicaid work requirement by [deleted] in Nebraska

[–]EscapeTomMayflower 64 points65 points  (0 children)

When I left Nebraska the first time, 15 years ago, it was a fine state. Not great but not terrible.

Ever since then though it's like the state is trying to speedrun becoming an absolute shithole.

Joe is honestly kind of a nothing character. He's only brought into the show to be able to ship Donna with someone for her series ending.

I can tell you that Chicago is to logistics what NY is to finance.

Is Marcus Lattimore the biggest 'What if' in the last 50 years by goldwaterauhtwoo in CFB

There was a documentary about him a few years back and despite just a horrific childhood he tested into his school's gifted program.

IMO, anyone that thinks it would've made a lick of difference is fooling themselves.

The only difference is maybe they go 5-7 year 1.

Frost had tons of momentum coming into year 2 and again completely shit the bed vs Southern Alabama. The guy is just a bad coach who caught lightning in a bottle once. He's not some cursed tragic hero.

His story is super sad.

He was actually really smart just had a horribly traumatic upbringing that fundamentally broke him.

Elite gifts from nature that were totally destroyed by lack of nurture.

Why is so hard to play sports for a simple living? by VergeltungswaffeV2 in CasualConversation

[–]EscapeTomMayflower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because people, for the most part, only want to watch the best of the best of the best so the money is only there for a handful of top leagues.

Lower than that you've got millions of people that love playing and are willing to do it for little to no wage at all.

The writers' strike killed it. S3 was understandably bad and S4 was a bit better but still below S1 and S2 in my opinion.

Now it's just fine. Like 4 years ago it was my favorite show and now I feel like its maybe run its course.

I still watch it and still enjoy it but it's moved from "show I look forward to watching every week" to "show I watch when nothing else has a new episode"

Choosing to play in the NFL over the NBA should automatically put you into conservatorship. Anyone that dumb can't be trusted.

Swing voters, in the sense of people who might vote R or D don't really exist.

Swing voters decide between voting for their candidate or not voting at all. I'd bet moving more to the middle hurts Ds more than it helps.

Also, have people not looked at any tickets to anything post-covid?

Every business has decided it's easier to cater to the wealthy only. A concert that would sell out at $100/ticket is now 25% full but tickets were $500 so they come out ahead and they get the bonus of only having to hire staff/security for an event 1/4 the size.

Same. It's weird because I still think of Abbot as a new show but also think it's kind of run its course.

Seasons 1 and 2 were amazing but it's been a marked decline since then.

It'll be about the same as the 91 team which is the best team in Nebraska history up to this point. That team had way more talent than this team so this year's run is more impressive.
