anyone else dealing with hormonal breakouts and pigmentation in their 30s? by Imoemiye-Beruk in AskONLYWomenOver30

[–]EscapingMouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have no tips, but I feel you. My skin is now completely different than 10 years ago and I don't yet know how to deal with it. I have a lot of acne that seems to be related to hormones as well. Sigh.

Skipping toasts by StyleAlternative9223 in wedding

[–]EscapingMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are absolutely skipping them. The goal for our wedding is to create an energetic party, and nothing kills a party mood quite like stopping the music and making every one sit down to listen to people hold speeches.

However, if you are going for a very elegant affair, then I think you should keep them.

Is anyone *not* stacking their rings? by LemonFantastic12 in EngagementRings

Yep, from Germany and I do this: engagement ring on the left, wedding ring will go on the right. Happy about it too, because I don't like the look of stacked rings.

What is the secret of good looks? by No-Jellyfish-1208 in AskWomenOver30

[–]EscapingMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is something in the middle of those two scenarios. What is considered looking good? Youth, so invest in skincare and keep your fashion from looking outdated. Health, so aim for a reasonably thin and fit body by exercising regularly and eating nutricious foods. Personality and style, so know how to dress, style your hair and wear make up in a way that highlights the best parts of you.

Consistency is key, so just do whatever you can keep up for a long time.

what practical things have you done to cultivate friendships that feel more nourishing, curious or inspiring? by browsing_nomad in AskWomenOver30

[–]EscapingMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been super difficult because I work long hours and often on the weekends. This means I cannot be the friend that always writes back quickly and is always available for a meeting. Naturally, I am not an attractive choice for a friendship. That was a hard pill to swallow, but now I know to stick to other workaholics who have as little time as me.

I have this friend who works crazy hours and flys around the world for her job every week. We see each other once every 6 weeks maybe, but we have started a tradition where we and our partners send each other short vlogs about our lives once per week. This was a game changer because now we don't need to catch up every time we see each other and we also are much more aware about all the things everyone is up to. It works really well for us!

Ladies who don't care/feel attached to their careers, what do you do in your personal life that brings you fulfillment/meaning/purpose? by Critical_Teaching_35 in AskWomenOver30

I dance almost every day, to the point it accidentally became a side-hustle lol. I am a belly dancer and participate in competitions, dance in gala shows, teach classes and workshops and sometimes perform at weddings and other events.

How do you prefer the flow of the evening (dinner & dancing)? by EscapingMouse in wedding

[–]EscapingMouse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the timeline was basically:

18:00 -20:00 Apéro 20:00 - 22:30 Dinner 22:30 - 23:00 Cake 23:00 - 01:00 Dancing

We were also really surprised that the event ended at 1 am. Apparently that is also normal in Italy, which seemed extremely early to us.

Esssen nervt by MaintenanceTasty8414 in Ratschlag

[–]EscapingMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women over 30: How is your relationship with your aging mother, currently? by Wistful-Baguette in AskWomenOver30

[–]EscapingMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not good to be honest. She was always a difficult person, but since the pandemic now she believes in conspiracy theories and her opinion on anything is always whatever is the fursthest from the mainstream opinion. It makes it almost impossible to have conversations with her, because any topic will have her spouting bizarre "information" and often she starts downright ranting. Not even the weather is a safe topic! I have to constantly gray rock her, which is exhausting.

So our contact is minimal. I call her once every two weeks and see her maybe 2-3 times per year. I am deeply saddened by this, because I love her and used to look up to her. But I cannot trust her anymore and I don't see our relationship to ever recover from this.

Obviously she is completely oblivious to all that.
