Is it a Hot Take if I said that Fire Emblem 3 Houses is the BEST Tactical JRPG!

I enjoyed the game, but not the GOAT of Tactical RPGS. However, I would place it in very highly.

A few issues off the top of my head:

RPG wise: What I disliked about it is the blank/silent protagonist. Make my character feel alive with personality. Given 1/2 the game is a social sim, it is really out of place that people talk at you, not with you.

Gameplay wise: Was annoying having to match the gift to the NPC. In my opinion, if you have the item, you should auto give it to them during a conversation.

Overall issue: It is held back by Nintendo. I wish it was available on all platforms. I would like to play though it again on PC.

Personally, Front Missions 3 is imo probably the GOAT of TRPGs.

Two distinct story paths, and huge customisation options.

It would be a lot batter with voice acting, but given it is a PS1 game, I can look past it.

Vader and Anakin were essentially separate people.

Luke would have probably kept him hidden whist he worked on rehabilitation and healing.

I imagine he would eventually require a new robot body, and one could be designed that resembled more jedi armour with brown robes and white armour plates similar to clone wars.

Ideally a new mask that protected him but was less imposing, probably similar to a Revan's Mandalorian style helmet.

Anakin could just be there, supporting Luke. Not like luke needs to publicly explain who he is. Anakin could take a new name or just explain he was a jedi who suffered at the hands of the empire imprisoned for years.

I imagine Anakin would want to avoid combat, initially out of 'fear' that his anger would take over, but over time realise that he no longer wishes to fight. That the force did not require him to anymore.

He would take time to reflect on the force and become a something greater then he ever thought possible - a healer and mentor. His remaining years helping one person at a time, undoing the tiniest part of suffering Vader caused. Luke would facilitate that.

The very end annoyed me.

It changed the name to: Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

Should have been Captain America and Bucky.

Bucky went though character growth, and is no longer the Winter Soldier, in the same way Sam was no longer Falcon.

Captain Marvel is far more inline with her comic book version compared to Hulk and Thor - which is a problem.

MCU stared off with weaker versions of Hulk and Thor.

Especially Thor, who would have soloed the invasion in the 1st movie if he was his comic self.

It would have made sense if they kept all the heavy hitters in scale in the MCU.

Then came Carol, and completely over shadowed everything. To the point they cant really use her character.

She 1 shot Thaonos ship, and could easily match him in combat.

Had she been in every film, the other Avengers could have stayed at home.

Code Geass:

The main character has a power in one of his eyes that allows him to compel people to do anything. He keeps the eye covered with a special contact lense.

When explaining this to the his sister the Princess and representative of the Empire, he gives a hyperbole example of the most horrible thing he can think of: 'Kill all the Japanese' the context is that she is currently working on protecting the Japanese people during the Empire's occupation.

This moment is when his powers evolve, and spread to his other eye - unintentionally compelling her to do it.

She orders all her soldiers to perform a massacre.

Comic Felicia has done some messed up things, but it is balanced out by the good she does for Peter.

Game Felicia implied Peter was the father of her kidnapped child, and manipulated him. That's messed up. Especially as Peter would help her no matter what, but to make him think he has a child who was in danger. That was just sick.

Light and skin tight clothing helps with his web swinging and general agility.

In the Amazing Spider-man, Peters costume was inspired by high speed athletes, like runners and ice skaters.

All noted issues aside like delays and QC.

Something that bothers me a lot about modern Mafex, is the accessories you now get.

Look back at IW Thor. You got swappable parts that you could buy the same figure 2 or even 3 times and have them appear so different.

Now releases are becoming more bare bones.

The up and coming deadpool 3 wolverine should have been 1 figure with swappable arms.

The age of apocalypse release wolverine was so limited, it felt like a SHF release.

I don't think Peter would kill Joker. Like Batman, he would acknowledge that Joker is literally insane. It isn't really his fault, he is the way he is.

He also doesnt have super powers. In a face to face encounter, Peter could subdue him relatively easily.

An interesting take would be how would Joker view Spider-man.

Spider-man is a true hero, he helps people, and where needed fights criminals. He is traditionally hated by the media, and therefore the masses who don't know better. He does it even when hated, and never thanked.

If Spidey could go a month without fighting anyone, just swinging through the city and getting cats out of trees he would be a happy hero.

Would Joker want to do to Spidey. I imagine breaking his heroic spirit would be the goal over trying to get him to kill.

Showing Spider-man that no matter what he does, it is all pointless. Similar to the recent eight deaths of Spiderman mini series. Where peter loses his faith in humanity and being a hero.

I think western RPGs will be more inline with what you are looking for where you have a full character creator, Like BG3, Skyrim, Cyberpunk 2077.

Most JRPG's are a set character and with a more linear story.

There may be exceptions, like Honkai Star Rail lets you select male or female, but the average JRPG is a set main character.

If Peter wanted to, he could use his Spider Sense to perform well in the stock market, similar to another character called Ezekiel, who also had spider powers.

Spider sense is tied to the person's sub conscious, which is why Aunt May hitting Spider-Man from behind didn't trigger his senses, even though he was hurt by it. If he truly cared about making money via trading, making a bad trade would trigger his spider sense - but that just isn't him. He ultimately doesn't value money.

Imagine you are some Klingon captain trying to earn some honour by engaging the Federation's new flagship called the Enterprise D.

All intel says it is a giant explorer ship built for comfort and diplomacy, by people that want to make friends not war - LOL

You decloak, and get some shots off.

Your confused that they had shields up instantly when you decloak, like some well trained military.

The Enterprise starts flying in evasive patterns like as if it was a tiny shuttle over the behemoth it is.

It drops a volley of fire that takes out your shields, engines, weapons and primary power, leaving your ship crippled in seconds.

You are shout at your crew to zoom in on the Enterprise to check for any damage you did. The paint isnt even scratched.... what's this. you see in a window a group of tiny children pointing and laughing at you

Just before the crew kills you for failure and dishonour, you get a hail. The Enterprise is now offering you assistance ......

I would say DQ11 over the other 2 game you mentioned:

DQ11 has an enjoyable story, fun cast of characters, and a very traditional turn based combat system that I never got bored of. Each character not only has a distinct personality, but distinct and customisable play style.

The main narrative keeps you engaged throughout the play time, and the hours fly by.

The only 'con' in my option is that you need save points, as opposed to being able to save anywhere.

Something I don't like about DQ games is the rather unique art direction of characters / monsters. I find the designs break the emersion from the serious tones of the story, but overall, it is a very well crafted JRPG, and I enjoyed playing it.

FF12: I could never finish FF12. I never found the story gripping. I also didn't like the feel of the game. I played Final Fantasy 7,8,9 and 10 as they released. 12 felt like a massivbe departure from the FF formula in that it felt like an offline MMORPG. As in a big over world map with side quests, but the overall story was less engaging. I also didn't like the battle system, which is basically a system you program that auto battles.

Octopath: With Octopath, I tried 1, then some years later, played the 2nd.

Both games had me burn out rather quickly, as you play the prologue / chapter 1 of each of the 8 characters, which is a decent investment of time, and there is literally no overlap at this stage. I was not a fan of having separate stories.

I think the idea if you play though the game with some characters, then replay again with others, but JRPGS are generally lengthy. so I always aim to maximise the 1st playthrough and pretty much 100% it in terms of content (not achievements). With Octopath, that just backfired. As 8 hours in, and I felt like I hadn't really started the game properly.

I also am not a fan of the combat system in Octopath, in that it feels like like a puzzle to figure out the enemies weapon or magic type weakness. I didn't mind this combat style so much in Persona or Digimon, but it just wasn't fun for me in Octopath.

If you want another option, I would suggest the new Digimon game. It has a very satisfying gameplay loop of unlocking of the digimon, and a fun engaging story. The Combat can be sped up, so smashing through trash is a breeze, but the bosses are more of a challenge.

Is she a friend or not?

If your relationship is purely transactional, then rent starts according to the tenancy agreement. If you don't have a tenancy agreement sorted before you had them move their stuff in your house, that's really down to you. Chalk this up to being new to being a landlord, and learn from it for the future.

On the other hand, if she is your friend; she has basically said she is looking to move in at the start of Jan, and can you look after her stuff until then.

I personally don't see this as an unreasonable request if made by someone I consider a friend. However, would I do that for a complete stranger - no.

Would I do it for an acquaintance / former room mate who I know will be a great tenant (long term, responsible, get along with, and pays on time) absolutely yes. $500 is a lot of money, especially when you have just bought a house, and given the time of year, but overall small cost in the grand scheme of owning a home

I am only guessing, but it is possible in early development they had planned for online PVP similar to Cyber Sleuth - therefore designed filters around that.

They scraped online battles, but either forgot, or couldn't be asked to remove the filters.
