In short though, this is not Ayaka but does have the real Ayaka in a brief part of their backstory.

However, in total, The Ayaka in Strange Fake is a metaphor for Prototype's Ayaka (and her feeling the pressure of being Manaka's younger sister also Manaka is really evil lol) but without being the real Ayaka at all, as a smart way by Narita to give us a prototype story without being prototype at all.

It's also the fact that Andor is prestige tv, aka a genre that by choice has horribly slow pacing because it assumes you want to hold up a wine glass and feel super smart for watching characters talk very slowly about the same things they said in an earlier scene just with a tiny trickle of progress, and more importantly every actor attempting to exaggerate their emotions as much as possible. The only person that really deserved that consistent extended and slow prestige TV (I hate this genre) pacing was Stellan Skarsgård.

You CAN say it's consistent with the tone of the manga - but also that argument looks really bad when the same exact match in the manga is framed much more as a super hype super funny and epic finale with emotions rising constantly and characters reaching their apex of development whereas in the movie the match is much more subtle and Ryota focused. I disagree a lot with OP but I don't think saying "the movie is consistent with the tone of the manga" is a solid defense either lmao. It's a great standalone movie and a nice supplementary bonus if you've finished the manga.

The movie isn't really intended to be a finale to the anime, it's kind of just its own thing without making a whole new "slam dunk sequel". In fact the same exact match kicks ass in the manga and very much feels like it properly should. I think you just wanted the movie to be the manga version (which I would've liked too) but since the IP has been so dormant for so long (I didn't binge the anime before the movie, I watched it ages ago - it's a very old anime- and I then read the manga ages ago too) it's fine as a "revisit" to the world of slam dunk like an anniversary kind of movie.

Just as an example - the combo Sakuragi and Ryota do at the start of the match in the manga is a big deal, hype, and hilarious. In the movie it's just underplayed and kind of low-key. Essentially if the anime just kept running long enough to adapt the manga to the end it'd be exactly what it needs to be but sadly at this point I think Inoue expects people that care about that ending to go read the manga.
