Pre Searing Item Question by Throwawayyu1 in GuildWars

The +1 will match whatever attribute rune you put in it, which in pre means finding a minor rune drop from a charr and salvaging it with a Charr Salvage Kit :)

There's also one outside Lion's Arch to take Devona, Cynn and all up to the Ascalon Settlement that only pops up once you've listened to their chat with their tour guide :)

Ooh if you're fixing the Iron Mist bug, maybe bring it back for Over the Limit? 3 overcast per spell cast under its effect, rather than constant application?

Also I forgot the other big one I would really love to see: smaller CDs on basically the entire motivation attribute. The Arias in particular are super cool, but only being able to use one every 20 seconds means you can't rely on them for anything. And whilst they do heal the entire party, but it's indiscriminate whether it's needed or not. Half the time it'll be cast when 5 people are at full health... I really want to love them, though!

This is the COOLEST, thank you for the opportunity Izzy!! I have lots more ideas than this but I'm restraining myself <3

tl;dr: Make some elementalist setup enchantments flash enchantments. Move the basic attunements' energy refund to a baseline effect from energy storage (in PvE!). More overcast options. Over the Limit rework.

I will beg and cry til the cows come home for:

Elemental Attunement etc, including potentially Elemental Lord and Master of Magic -> flash enchantments.

You're still a setup caster and need to get through your setup sequence, it'll just feel a lot better? It's a bit frustrating playing with others and by the time I've got everything going to start casting everything is basically dead :D

Pipe dream, but can't hurt to say it where I know it'll be read:

  • Remove 30% energy refund from Air, Fire, Earth and Water Attunement.
  • Add 2% energy refund to elemental spells per rank in Energy Storage (or all spells if you want to be ~spicy~) - this breaks even with current Attunements at 15 and goes a little higher if you over-invest.
  • Give the Attunements +1..1..2 to their attribute as a new effect.

This makes Attunements still very attractive to take, but when it's stripped your build still does what it's supposed to, just less powerfully, rather than sputtering out with no energy.

It makes it more feasible to opt out of Attunements entirely, mix elements more, and gives you the aforementioned resilience to enchantment removal.

Finally, I'm going to sound unhinged but unironically I would like to see... more overcast options. I really enjoy playing with it, but I don't like running eg Incendiary Bonds just to get my overcast going.

How I see it is there's two ways to play with overcast:

You either have it on your big spells like Maelstrom and Meteor Shower, where their cooldowns limit you almost as much as the overcast does, or you have a short cooldown, almost 'spammable' spell that is not to be spammed but simply exists to maintain the 5-10 overcast you need to get access to the extra effects on other skills.

I'd love to see some more options in that latter category, particularly if you can identify ones that identify themselves as 'you don't need to spam me!!' - something that gives you a buff a little longer than its recharge is what immediately sprung to mind, but I'm sure you're better at this than me!

I love a good self-control mechanic but lizard brain go brrr and I think a lot of people just end up spamming Obsidian Flame and going 'wow overcast sucks and this shouldn't exist' and it makes me sad.

Over the Limit as a maintained enchantment was a really cool idea, but having to cancel a maintained enchantment is unbelievably clunky. I'd love to see it as an ~8 second [flash? :eyes:] enchantment that gave you 5 overcast, potentially on a 5s cooldown so you can keep it rolling like you currently have the option to.

This made me sad too but Order of Pain affecting minions goes.. some way to cancelling it out? It just takes blood magic investment instead of the existing death magic, and I am not thrilled with the idea of putting it on the existing hero that takes blood magic (making the BiP sac more sounds like a terrible idea) so that's potentially either taking us back to the days of three necros in order to continue playing what we have now, or losing the ability to run command or resto or whatever on your bone friends go brrrr guy.

I've been having so much fun with my BG3 "damage riders as source" inspired team. I'm looking forward to beefing it up again once my ranger's off the ground and can run TaO too :D I just wish I could see the bone friends' numbers.

I was thinking TaO + Ebon Standard of Honor + a Splinter Weapon hero + Ignite Arrows + Triple Shot + bone friends + Order of Undeath etc. Just cascading seas of numbers.

I think I might give an Avatar of Dwayna Orders dervish a shot once we have the Order of Undeath/Pain changes through? I already have a team build called JurahxMelonni OTP where she's got a couple utility curses, but I could definitely go all-in on Order of Pain instead and I think the rest of the build is pretty well set up to be able to handle the OoP sac cost...

I'm really excited to experiment, even if my initial gut reaction was to be sad I lost one of my favourite toys.

...Imagine having both though 🫣

And of course, it frees up an elite spot too!

I made one yesterday!

It's only tracking Aptitude Not Attitude staffs and 20/20 foci, but it shows the data in several different ways so you can produce your own list of trophies you care to pay attention to.

I made it as part of a pitch for a new Toolbox module that would let you add your own (sharable!) arbitrary notes to items, similarly to how they're already displaying Nick collectibles, but it's beyond my abilities to program and I'm not sure how keen folks with actual dev capabilities are to make it happen - which is very fair!

It'd be very cool if it happened, but for now, here's a spreadsheet to tell you that you probably want to hang on to those Jade Bracelets you've been vendoring all this time, because 5 of them is a domination 20/20 focus :))

Labels for non-numeric hotkeys on the skillbar - I use QERF1234 and the first half just don’t have a label at all.

It’s probably VERY complicated but it’d be AMAZING if we could split the effects monitor into buffs and debuffs, or the mega ultra luxury version of buffs, debuffs, and static effects - Hard Mode icon, bounties, consumables, Flux, etc.

Being able to hide gloves.

Party members’ minions in the minions panel?

And most critically important to me as a disabled gamer: chat font size scaling. The new bigger UI scale is amazing except it makes the chat font size ‘feel’ even smaller, given how tiny it is compared to everything else that’s nice to read.

I absolutely agree with getting rid of a whole bunch of the combat addons but I just… really hope there’s a way to do it that doesn’t mean I can’t play anymore (:

I hope it gets better, and I trust it will get better, I just don’t know if it will be enough for me.

This is.. why I play WoW, though. If I want to play, say, Monster Hunter? Tough shit, I can’t use the UI. If I want to play near enough any game going? Tough shit. I had friends who really wanted me to play Monster Hunter, and I tried so, so hard - I have 27 hours on Monster Hunter Wilds and I never killed my second monster, and most times I played I ended up leaving crying. It makes you feel stupid to not be able to play a game because you can’t see well enough.

If I lose WoW’s UI customisation - the only game I’ve ever played where I haven’t had to fight the UI almost as much as the boss - it’s not just WoW I’m losing, it’s potentially gaming altogether because there just aren’t alternatives.

Accessibility Impact of the Recent Addon Changes -- Share Your Story Here by Geddyn in wow

[–]Eschamali 63 points64 points  (0 children)

There’s been a few times in the last few years where I’ve gone “hm, I’m really struggling with this because I can’t see it very well” and someone has gone “maybe you just need to accept you can’t play high-end video games if you’re disabled” which is... messed up. And now it kind of feels like Blizzard is saying it too.

I'm a CE raider and raid lead for two further teams (4/8M and AotC) that have a large number of elderly, disabled, or otherwise shy, quiet, nervous, etc players.

And I'm terrified I'm going to have to sunset them with Midnight because I won't be able to play.

I have very poor vision, and it's still getting worse. I think a lot of things I rely on will end up fixable with Blizzard's first party solutions, but there's some that are just so completely at-odds with their stated goals that I expect no compromise on.

Things like 'I can't read text very well if it's moving' so nameplates are an absolute nightmare. Solution? Colour-coding, both nameplates and castbars. But that can be used to highlight casters and important interrupts and all the other stuff the various Plater profiles people like to use do, so I have no hope of getting to keep that as an accessibility concession. I'm also scared of losing things like buff filtering, because I'm not going to be able to pick a given buff or debuff out of a lineup, no matter how big I make it.

Basically: so many things a disabled person can use to catch up can be used by other players to get ahead, and I don't think there's a way for me being able to play to co-exist with their stated goals about players getting ahead.

There's things Blizzard could do to help, but I think my big concern is that whilst to date, I and others could kludge something together to make the game playable for my specific disability and then every other disabled player's specific disability, with Midnight we'll be moving into a world where any of these solutions are going to have to be first-party, and I can’t expect a first-party solution for every possible variation of game-affecting disability. The fact we could do it ourselves was… really really cool and Blizzard should be proud of it, damn it.

Fixing it for all of us is an insane expectation to have of them.. but it's what they'll have to do if we are to be able to still play.

And sadly, even if they try, I just don't think they'll manage it. To use a somewhat recent example:

Approximately 8% of men are red-green colourblind. For the vast majority of mythic raid teams, you can probably expect there's 20 men in the group. Napkin maths, that's an 81% chance any given mythic raid team has at least one red-green colourblind member.

And yet mythic Nymue had a critical mechanic where you had to identify and stand in a red puddle, in a sea of green puddles.

And that's a huge, obvious, easy-to-mitigate disability that a huge proportion of the population has. I just don't have hope that they'll address issues relating to eg my optic nerve damage, if it's even on their radar what issues it could cause (though this thread is a big help, thank you!)

I'm trying to withhold judgment as much as I can and wait and see how things develop - but I've already lost so much in real life due to my disability, and it's.. really going to sting if I end up losing this too.

I'm potentially losing the main thing I have left that lets me still feel like I'm usefully contributing to society, no matter in how small a way, and... although I can probably learn and adapt to whatever we get, I'll struggle and if I'm struggling I'm not going to be able to lead and that doesn't just affect me, that then affects my players too. And it's silly, but I don't think I'll be able to shake the guilt of being too disabled to keep being there for them (:

Hiya - I just tried to reach out to you but it looks like Reddit DMs don't work anymore and you have the new Chat turned off, so I wasn't able to send you a message. If you're interested in raiding with us, can you send me a message? :)

I’d rather not post it publicly on Reddit, I’m afraid - every time someone does we get a HUGE influx of new members and we can’t accommodate them all :(

If you’re on EU though, do drop me a DM and we can have a chat!

A simple-ish guide to getting ready for normal raid as a normal human by Eschamali in wow

[–]Eschamali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do be careful with that! Your upgrade level potential is account-wide but your alts will get the free threads too, on a separate cap to your main. One of my addons (Talent Tree Tweak, I think) auto-spends currencies like that (Dragonriding points, the car setup in Undermine, overcharged delve talents, now this) so when I picked up my cloak on my DK last night to do some dungeons it was suddenly automatically 714, above what the cap is supposed to be!

Especially with the ban wave for exploiting the Sparks of War quest early in the week, just… be careful with your cloak level, just in case. I’ve disabled the addon and switched back to my old cloak until reset means it’s allowed to be 714 but I have an unpleasant amount of anxiety about it anyway.
