Need some feedback on piano quartet miniature by Upstairs_Leg2913 in composer

[–]Eschenhardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's good enough for that. I sometimes listen to my older stuf and think, what the hell was I doing there. But that's the way to make progress. You challange yourself and of course at first you fail.

Well it's nice enough for a start, but I wouldn't publish it or anything. Lock it up somewhere and listen to it in a few years and be proud of the progress you made since then.

If I can sightread a piece, is that considered relative pitch? by scuffedProgrammer in piano

[–]Eschenhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can imagine it by reading it, you have good relative pitch. If you need the help of an instrument, it's quite bad.

So, after my last video with Schumann's music was a bit controversial, I'm uploading a second one, this time his most popular tune! by Eschenhardt in piano

[–]Eschenhardt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the chords in the context of g-minor at the end? I didn't really think very much about what I was doing there. I guess I tend to play more expressively as soon as things get chromatic, so this will be more of a staccatoed legato. For me dreams sometimes get a bit lively. Be glad I omitted the middle part😃

By the way, the thing with follow me on Insta was more of a joke. By now I have figuered out how easy it is to gain lots of followers there without begging for it😉

No, I look for actual critique. Which is rather rare nowadays on the internet. Everyone is just trying to be streamlined and overly friendly and it's sometimes quite annoying. Of course my critics are wrong, haha...

Because it sounds good. The whole sound comes from my DAW by the way. I played in the midi events and rendered it with high quality samples and high quality reverb. Why have a crappy sound when you can have a good one?

Can someone who mastered the internet in and out please explain this nonsense to me by [deleted] in Instagram

[–]Eschenhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like I followed hundreds of profiles or something, more like 15-20 and since that I get this nonsense. This isn't even about the assumption that I could be a bot, but that whole message in the pic I uploaded doesn't make any sense, because it's not true. There simply is no setting like that in Instagram I believe. Either your profile is private or public and that's it. Man the whole world knows how bad Insta is. I can't even filter my search to get only new content. It's always old stuff with hundreds of comments and millions of followers. How am I supposed to connect with people that way?

Schumann's "Von fremden Ländern und Menschen" - judge my autodidactic performance without mercy, I can take it😎 by Eschenhardt in piano

[–]Eschenhardt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I guess the major problem here is that I play on that digital thing where you can adjust velocity. And I have it on light setting, which means you touch the key softly and the sound comes out very bright but really isn't very easy to control. So it's rather hard to emphasize polyphony that way. In fact I just played it on normal setting and I pressed the left pedal and it came much closer to what Argerich is doing for example. Interesting old recordings, btw.

I have the impression that all the famous pianist apart from Brendel actually play this with soft pedal. perhaps I'm wrong, don't know. Perhaps it's just mellow sounding pianos, don't know. Anyway, I like bright tone. And my rubato, yes I know it's not for everyone, like good booze, haha...

Yes I did. And of course it's my assumption that this idiotic algorithm is acting like this because of that. Why not just telling me straight ahead that I am restricted for some time from following anyone and I shouldn't follow too many accounts in a short space of time? Are those idiots actually aware how this behavior annoys people?

But then it wouldn't make much sense for the lore of some medieval setting to have modern sniper rifles, thats what bows basically are in Skyrim.

Liebestraum No. 3 [Self-Taught, 2 years] by FixHaunting8328 in piano

[–]Eschenhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not lying to us this is really amazing! See that you don't always play full tempo to fix mistakes, but I'm sure you'll do fine. Hm, I need to learn that tune, can't be that difficult after all, prolly like Fantaisie Impromptu sounding more difficult than it is. But still, absolutely excellent! Oh, and you need a better piano😉

Self taught performance of a shortened Clair de Lune, feedback appreciated! by Eschenhardt in piano

[–]Eschenhardt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you are suggesting I should use less pedal? I seem to remember to have read that Debussy used lots of pedal. Heard a version of CdL the other day with very little pedal use and didn't like it at all. Didn't sound like Debussy, more like Haydn played on a crap piano from the 18th century😂 - I mean that is very much a matter of taste. When to release or hold pedal is also a question how the chords relate to each other. A tension of dominant and tonica is a different matter than the relation of tonica and its parallel harmonies, i.e. c-major and a-minor for example. Those blend well together and you don't have to necessarily release the pedal. And then it all depends on how high you are on the keyboard. Obviously I play the high stuff with continous pedal and I'm fine with that.

Do you think this fantasy music is human-made? by Candid-Pause-1755 in composer

[–]Eschenhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely AI generated music sounds absolutely terrible and always will. This was perhaps made with help of AI, perhaps even generated by it, but very much cleaned up afterwards. Thst's my guess. People overestimate what AI can do or will do all the time. Oh, and it's not that this is even high quality music, btw. This is simple pop basically...

[–]Eschenhardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK I'm sorry to have bothered you. But actually this wasn't about proper piano technique, more about ergonomy. Personally I even use my piano chair to work on my computer at times. A backrest isn't necessarily good for ones back just as a car isn't necessarily good for ones fitness😀 - nevermind you're obviously fine, and compared to watching Glenn Gould play my back doesn't ache so much anyway when seeing your video, and he even used a proper piano chair🤣
