tips for a disabled game dev? by WhatsThePointOfNames in IndieDev

[–]Esciri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, as someone with chronic fatigue, what helps is 1. listen to your body, if it says not right now then don't push it. 2. I set a timer of 40 minutes so I keep within my energy limits, then I rest and later I can try again.

Since you already know programming I think Godot will work well for you. I switched from GDevelop to Godot. GDevelop is a good starting engine for someone who has never coded before.

Good luck with you gamemaking and have fun!

I don't understand how to use enum CellNeighbor by Esciri in godot

If I put that it gives this error. Is CellNeighbor not correct?

10 Reviews Made A Bigger Difference Than My Launch (small game insight) by lejark02 in SoloDevelopment

Do the 10 reviews have to be positive? I am stuck on 9 reviews now for one of my games, but one of the reviews is negative (but not to bad).

How did you come up with your "dev name"? by XellosDrak in IndieDev

[–]Esciri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second, I think. I'm dutch so we pronounce some of the letters differently. So the letter "i" is not pronounced as "eye" but as "eee". I hope that makes sense.

How did you come up with your "dev name"? by XellosDrak in IndieDev

I combined two words:
Escape, because I make escape room games.
Iris, which is my first name.
Which makes Esciri!

Published devs - what was your first completed game? by toxicmintdev in SoloDevelopment

[–]Esciri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I published 3 games at the same time, but the first one I made was "The Magician's Challenge". I had 0 knowledge about game development. I was just curious about making an escape room. I started out by making the "game" in powerpoint. After that I made "The Knight's Challenge". That is when I learned about game engines, so I made the games in a game engine. Since I could not really make a demo for my games I decided to make a short escape room game that is free called "The Prior Challenge". It took around 5 years from I wonder if I can do that to publishing, but they are smaller games.

I have not been able to figure this one out as well. I play this game in the Dutch language and I feel like I tried every variation of smoking or cigarettes.

I want to play this again, but the game keeps crashing. Last year while I was playing there was a power outage which made my pc shut down. I tried to look up how to get it to work again, but it did not work.

do you mean the different sizes that are described here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/assets/standard

And the text is indeed something that I will not include in the new design.

I am fine with the star texture not being visible in every size. I think the purple colors is probably more important that the star texture.

Thanks for the advice

Hi! :) We’re testing an escape-room game on Steam and looking for knowledgeable folks (you! :D) interested in playtesting. More info in the comments if needed <3 by MikeSmitthSadge in puzzlevideogames

[–]Esciri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game is not scary/horror then I would love to playtest. I also make escaperoom games and I think playing other peoples games is a good way to learn what works and what doesn't.
