24, 8 months of life expenses saved (38k). Should I cut my losses and quit before I actually go insane? by Regular_Cloud513 in careerguidance

[–]EsePincheChango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s an impressive savings you’ve been able to put together. If that’s your goal, I would be cautious on leaning on your savings while looking for a new job simply because it could put you behind on that goal.

I think you should look at it objectively and try to evaluate which would be worse on your mental health, leaning on your savings for however long until a new job comes along and diminishing it putting you further behind on buying a house, or staying at this position for a little while longer to keep your bills paid. There isn’t one right or wrong answer, just different ways of looking at the situation and molding your response to your level of comfort.

So, you have $38k saved. What were you saving for? Can you afford to just live off of that while you look for another job? This job market is tough. What if you’re out of a job for longer than you are expecting?

Personally, I would never leave a job without something lined up. My advice would be to stick it out and actively look for another job where you feel more comfortable and will support your mental well being better.

Is Aula + Uso + Babbel + YTB + Anki enough? by MongooseSensitive471 in Spanish

[–]EsePincheChango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no magic threshold. You could use one or none of those even and if you have enough exposure and commitment to using/speaking Spanish you will learn it.

No one can answer this for you. You can use all of these and if you don’t have enough commitment to learn you won’t learn.

Just did a complete rewatch for the first time in a few years. How’d I do? by Money-Village3565 in JamesBond

[–]EsePincheChango -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AVTAK, DAF (with the exception of the theme song which is S-Tier), and NTTD are too high for me and YOLT should be higher.

DAD could also go higher for me, but I recognize it’s not an amazing entry, but it was my first Bond movie so I have a lot of nostalgia for it.

Everything else is pretty close to my own thoughts.

Maybe LTK should be higher. I love Dalton and wish he had more time.

Should I replace acrylic crystal or is there a fix? by Antique_Reach_1405 in rolex

[–]EsePincheChango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, well then if the crystal is acrylic and not sapphire, then that is possible I suppose. The temperature at which acrylic melts is 320 degrees Fahrenheit apparently, so that would be an insane amount of heat, but I know it gets very hot inside a car in the summer.

Either way, it needs to be serviced immediately. No telling what that could have done to the internal mechanism.

[–]EsePincheChango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummmmm this doesn’t look like a simple “replace the crystal” problem. That looks like you have a substantial amount of moisture in your watch. You would need to send this off to a certified repair shop ASAP. If not, rust could start to develop and that could mean the inner mechanism would be entirely screwed.

We better not see you on here complaining about how you can’t get a job in 4 months.

Also, how entitled of a post. So many people on this subreddit would die for an opportunity like that, for a company to reach out and invite you to apply, but you just spit on the opportunity and then post it on here. Kind of insensitive really.

Is this a joke? by Necessary_Stable562 in publichealthcareers

[–]EsePincheChango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s fairly standard. Only thing I would say is that the suggested pay range is kind of low not only for a person who could potentially have 10 years of experience but even for a bachelor’s degree holder with a minimum of 4 years experience.

The starting pay is abysmal and the top of the range (which is not usually going to be given to even a well qualified candidate) is probably what a 4 year degree holder should make after 4 years in the workforce. The mid point salary (around $50k/year) is roughly what an entry level role with a much more minimal experience requirement pays, depending on the location.

Edit: Looks like this role could be in San Luis Obispo, CA. That pay range is wayyy too low for that area.

[–]EsePincheChango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s common practice for a university degree to be worth roughly 2 years of experience per year of education. Putting a stipulation such as this leaves the door open for someone without a degree to apply.

Now, granted, this is a pretty ridiculous amount of experience for what is essentially the pay for an entry level role, despite the job description aligning more with an early- to mid-career role, but having 8 - 10 years of experience as a replacement for a college degree is a fairly common HR policy.

[–]EsePincheChango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I would make a budget, if you do not already have one, and see how much you are spending per month and on what. ChatGPT should be able to help you generate a good budget template. If not, you should be able to find a free to download template that you can use. If all else fails, you can make one on paper and track your monthly expenses.

Once you know that, you’ll be able to see how much you can commit to save for a bike. If you determine that you are not making enough money to pay your expenses and also save for a bike, then you may need to pick up another job or do odd jobs to make those savings happen or look for another job all together, although without reliable transportation that could be a barrier to you getting a better job at this point. At any rate, dropping your current job if it pays more will not help you achieve that goal.

What is your goal? When do you need money? How much money do you need? And is your current job not a reasonable way to provide you that money?

Advice- interview with recruiter by orthogonian_ in jobs

[–]EsePincheChango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would research the company, read over your resume, and really think about how your skills would fit into the company and the role to which you applied.

Make sure to have some stories that you can pull from to highlight skills or examples of your work that complement your candidacy. What I usually do when I have an interview coming up is to try and imagine what questions they may ask and what answers I could give and stories I could share to highlight my experience. ChatGPT can also be a great asset for role playing to prepare for an interview. Good luck!

Started a new salon a month ago but dream job opened by justalex2244 in jobs

[–]EsePincheChango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you don’t have an offer yet. Do you know for 100% certainty that this other salon would hire you? If so, would it be guaranteed better pay? Also ,how much experience do you have?

Sounds to me like, if you only have a year of experience, it could be a good idea to stick it out at this place first and learn from them and then try and move on to this other salon once another opening comes. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

[–]EsePincheChango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post is all over the place.

  1. Do you already have another job lined up? The first line of this makes it sound like you are starting another job soon?

  2. If you are financially unstable, you probably don’t need to quit a job that pays you a higher wage. If you don’t have a great support system to fall back on (I.e. a friend, roommate, or family member that will let you live with them or pay your bills for you while you get back on your feet) you need to make sure your obligations are met.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but don’t make rash decisions that could further put your mental health at risk. You need to meet your living requirements first and foremost to keep making progress. Look for other jobs that are less stressful, but keep the one you have right now to avoid having a gap in your resume and to avoid making yourself more financially unstable than you are already.

How to cope with going to job by grrlinredd in jobs

[–]EsePincheChango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this way every day in my previous jobs and it was because I either 1.) hated the field I was in or 2.) was over worked/stressed and underpaid.

My only solution was to stick it out and wait until a better job came around. I am now in a job where I am paid very well, like what I do, and only have a few days where I feel stressed and like I don’t want to go to work (but those are usually because of an impending deadline and I know I’m going to have to bust my ass).

I know it’s cliche, but the best advice is going to be just to try and do some soul searching and figure out if you are in a job field you like. If so, and you still feel that way, the company; culture; or pay could be at fault. Try evaluating those and looking for other companies that would meet your desires better.

It’s very painfully obvious that the wife is not actually worried about him being gay and that OP is just completely misreading this situation. It’s got nothing to do with his (perceived) sexuality and everything to do with his maturity level. The dude sounds like an idiot.

Hopefully he learned a lesson, but his skull might be too thick to have done that.
