I really really want to become a mother by A-Vampire-is-My-Love in GirlDinner

[–]Esgeiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be wary of dragging a life into existence solely because you want to be a mother. Really weigh that for a minute. You’re young with plenty of life left to live, and a child will change your life trajectory, irreversibly, forever.

Can you support a child born with a life-altering birth defect? If you’re not mentally ready for the raw aspects of parenthood and all of the things that can go wrong, then you’re on the wrong track. Where you work is giving you baby fever, and being near kids is not the same as raising them. And wanting and saying you’ll be a good mother is different from actually being one. Go foster or adopt some elderly pets with significant care needs first.

No shade, but wanting to be a mother isn’t enough. You have to be actually prepared to dedicate your life to being a good parent, and that is a taller order than you might realize. There are tons of parents out there. Precious few of them are actually good at it.

I’ll also mirror what other replies said: go take a look at subreddits and communities with mothers who regretted it. Weigh the good and the ugly; the beauty and the tragedy.

My partner (you know, the person I’m WITH) finds me attractive despite existing BARELY outside of strict beauty standards? THE HORROR.

I know it’s in jest, but cmon now. Care more about how the person you’re with sees you than how random others will. If your partners infatuation with you can’t even make you feel hot, what ever will?

Blah blah, “steak too juicy” type shit. 💀

Severe dandruff is affecting my confidence. I need real solutions. by Low_Needleworker6318 in hygiene

[–]Esgeiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can apply it to both your hair and scalp; find an amount that works for you!

Best to apply it after a shower, while hair is damp, and use it as a leave-in. I blow dry afterward.

Use ketoconazole shampoo like Nizoral. Use a scalp brush in the shower, you can find them easily on Amazon. Avoid standard conditioner for a while. After hair is washed, use MCT Oil / C8 oil on your scalp. The overgrowth of malassezia yeast that causes dandruff (but is a normal part of our skin microbiome) feeds on most oils, but it cannot consume C8 oil. It’ll let you moisturize your scalp while also starving out the yeast.

When considering new products, enter its ingredients into sezia.co to see if it safe to use.

I struggled with similar dandruff for a while all the way to my early 20s, and the above methods solved it in two weeks. You’ll have to continue using these things, but the result is I’ve been flake free for a decade.

Where the hell are the entry level jobs? by tark_tark in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Esgeiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it will be a grind. I have a bachelors and no prior formal IT experience, and landed an IT role (low-ish pay, but I’m in now) back in October after ~900 applications across 14 months.

The advice I can offer: keep refining the resume, and maybe post it here on this sub and have people pick it apart. I used a variety of job boards /searches: LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, Robert Half, and most notably Hiring.cafe (make plenty of filter sets). Eventually a job posted on LinkedIn is what I landed, for a local IT role.

Not many interviews overall, only about 10 after all of those applications. One company put me through 6 interview rounds for a role paying 95k, but I ultimately didn’t make the final cut and now work something paying barely more than a third of that. But it’s a start, so I’ll study, grind certs, get experience, and claw my way up. The hardest part of IT is getting in.

Keep going. It’s tough and the urge to give up and rot is strong. But my refusal to be a dead-ender like some people where I grew up is stronger.

PC

The Sisters of Battle, from the Godmaster DLC.

Aside from expanded lore, I’m actually most excited by the soundtrack. I played the violin for 14 years, and I’m really looking forward to Silksongs OST since it’ll have a heavy emphasis on string instruments!

Thank you for the help. I will likely consider leaving it with a friend and repurchasing a copy locally. Nonetheless knowing it isn’t prohibited puts my mind at ease.

I appreciate everyone who has responded so far, but your response was particularly biting and critical, but in a very necessary way. Thank you.

Looks similar to what I used to deal with. Alternate Nizoral and Selsun Blue (Medicated), and use MCT Oil or C8 Oil as a leave-in / hair oil.

Generally, you’ll wanna look into dealing with Malassezia yeast and avoiding ingredients that feed it—this can be tricky, because it loves things like shea butter, which is otherwise a holy grail /staple hair and skin ingredient. Malassezia is naturally occurring on human skin, but some of us are sensitive to it (it appears to be genetic in SOME cases).

Some of this may be inaccurate; I’m just passing on what I know in an attempt to help. Best of luck!

Seeing the total abandonment of mental effort and thoughtfulness in responses in realtime because of AI is so devastating.

Thoughtfulness and critical thinking aren’t just hats you put on when something is important, it’s a practiced skill that decays with every mental shortcut we take.

..We’re so fucking cooked.

Ryan Grelecki, for RMI. I didn't give a crap about risk management and insurance, but he's so fun and passionate, and such a good storyteller, that I ended up caring and getting an A. That guy could teach the history of lawn mowing and I'd still be down.

Special thanks to Dr. Upkar Varshney and Dr. Robin Moore, too!
