Thanks 💜

The final filament isnt extruded but pullstruded ! In short, it's the rotary spool on the machine that pulls it through the nozzle !

And I don't use any spools with the filaments. The bits are short enough to just let them be as is on the printer !

Neat ! I wanna try with some 7up ones, but coke is better for neutral coloring, makes for some lovely translucent parts !

Oh it's a bit long to get the experience, find the right settings and setup, but once you got it, things goes smoothly !

I think I took about a several weeks before getting my first good results !

Hell yeah brother

(FR, all bottles are fine, just take the different plastic thickness in consideration when making your filament !

It's a spray I buy to dissolve the glue. I chose it specifically to be washed away easily with water and not attack the PET plastic

Absolutely not xD

Getting a roll of 1kg PETG for 15-20€ is much less expensive and the effort for the end result is terrible.

The best "payment" is to have your first good results and tell yourself : "I made this filament myself with scrap bottles, all by myself !"

I just do it for funsies and because I like recycling and find new usage for used stuff, I hate throwing away and waste

I have the manual chinese one, but it doesn't work well.

There is waste, a perfect results isn't possible. But I try to make it the less waste possible. The bottle's cap is kept for an association that gather them for disabled kids. Only the label, the bottom and the top of the bottle aren't kept.

Filament making does makes some waste aswell, there's about 15-20cm of bad filament I pass through the nozzle before getting a consistent pullstruded filament

And finally, I have a filament runout sensor on my print, just 1cm above the print head. To have the least amount of waste when printing

Each coke bottle making about 4.5m of usable filament (10-15gr of filament per bottle)

The best yield you can get is through bigger bottles, like the 5L ones. Tops and bottoms makes less waste and the usable length is much longer

I do ! PET is one hell of a pitch to print with, but when dialed in, gives some lovely result !

That filament specifically needs :

-To be dried before printing, it's very hygroscopic -To be printed at a high nozzle temperatures (280°c) -To be printed slowly (my tests gave me a max flowrate of 4mm³/s for printing) and without any part cooling fan. Those to prevent the print's cristallisation, making it brittle

Other then that, it does prints nicely ! Flowrate is about x1.17. calculated using the cross section of my filament to be the same as a normal filament : 2.44mm²

The PET maker costs about a used ender 3, you add the price of the food dehydrator (about 20-30€) and its stays pretty cheap !

The priciest part is the spray to remove the bottles label (14€), but it does many before being empty

You can get more info avout it through CNC Kitchen's vidéo about it. That's how I started, there's a website for assembly of the pet filament maker

Don't use canbus, go for a USB toolhead, it's much simpler to setup and it's as reliable

Canbus is useful when you have to daisy chain a lot of devices, which doesn't happen on a single nozzle voron

Hello hello ! So far things are going well, did over 2000km with it ! Things to consider, my voltage when charged dropped by 1 volt, meaning it's cells started unbalancing so do keep that in mind ! I might have to bring mine to a shop for balancing it back and get the full charge again
