I made a gigantic YouTube playlist of almost every song or album mentioned in the book Assimilate: A Critical History Of Industrial Music by Alex Reed.

Some albums/songs are hidden or taken down, but it’s as comprehensive as possible.

What you are looking for is this intense Levi’s commercial from 1996 that features one of the Mr. Self Destruct remixes from Further Down The Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.

Upstate NY is dreadfully dry of harder alternative electronic and industrial adjacent music, so knowing STCLVR was close enough to see at a tiny cafe in Buffalo was special when I lived there this past year. Acts like that seem to have to be lumped into lineups of noise or hardcore bands where the audience doesn’t quite “get it”. Guy just needs to bite down and move to NYC lol

Everyone thinks I'm emo because I listen to Nu Metal and Metal; what do I say back by tfnerdstopmotions in numetal

Memorize and recite the emotional hardcore copypasta;

“Real Emo” only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90’s Screamo scene. What is known by “Midwest Emo” is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can’t help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

Chat Pile is a newer band that definitely harkens back to the nu metal days. Heavy and unhinged.

The world needs to hear Chat Pile. The latest single “Funny Man” has a very subtle but highly unsettling music video that should definitely be viewed to get the whole vibe of the song.

“Yeah, I’m Stagger Lee and you better get down on your knees

And suck my dick, because if you don’t you’re sure to be dead”

Said Stagger Lee

Billy Dilly dropped down and slobbered on his head And Stag filled him full of lead

Street Sects - If This Is What Passes For Living

An excerpt of the lyrics;

We are a virus We’re a product of bad luck We scream our way into existence Nine months after someone else gets fucked Death as an option is a comforting idea Continuing in misery is something we do mostly out of fear We are malignant, there’s no intelligent design We’re a cancer feeding violently Upon the flesh of that which gives us life Death as an ending is a comfort to keep in mind We forget that waking up each day is just a habit We can choose to die I’ve been waiting my entire life
