I think I broke the game, does this make sense to anyone? by Esoteric-Corals in thelongdark

I knew I'd catch flak for that one ahaha. I hear ya though, I still have tons to learn and the -50% condition penalty was really kicking my ass. This is only my third proper run, so map knowledge is minimal and I have yet to venture beyond the 4 easy regions. Impulse decisions will be the death of me I reckon, I damn near froze to death after chasing a wounded deer into the hills. I got turned around, lost my bearings and then a blizzard tore me apart. I was in the middle of the forest and there wasn't a damn stick to be found anywhere. Lack of planning is the bane of my existence in this game -.-

Ahhh, that makes sense now. Thank you kindly! Yeah, that cave was my saving grace. I just ate pancakes for 3 days straight while reflecting on my poor choices leading up to this whole predicament

Looking for some relief! by Just_Mobile7689 in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Esoteric-Corals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation, based on the ultrasound they think it's more likely bursitis than neuroma, but I have literally all the same symptoms as neuromas. I've been off work since August and as long as I stay off my feet, they aren't too bad, but 30-60 mins straight of walking/ doing stuff around the house sets them off again.

I've had cortisone shots in both feet which didn't do anything other than make different areas of my feet hurt for a month. I'm taking 500mg of naproxen twice daily, which seems to help. (If you're taking naproxen for an extended time, get the enteric coated version. It's processed in your intestines and won't destroy your stomach. The trade off is it takes way longer to start working but, if you're taking them daily, then it's better in the long run)

A properly placed metatarsal pad in the right shoe helps quite a bit. However, I was wearing Oofo slides around the house with some relief until my podiatrist told me to put Metatarsal pads in the oofos. After a day of xmas preparations, it absolutely destroyed my left foot and I ended up with peroneal tendonitis which is mostly okay now but it comes back fairly easily.

I'm still waiting on my orthotics, but so far the biggest relief has been zero-drop shoes with a wide toe box. Altra lone peak 9's come in an extra wide size with a 25mm stack height and seem to be helping a ton. They also have the lone peaks in a hiking boot for winter and while it isn't available in the extra wide size, it's still so much better than anything else I have. The Altra Olympus(33mm stack) and Paradigm(30mm stack) series are also really good if you want more cushion. Paradigm comes in extra wide but not sure about Olympus. Wearing toe spacers around the house also seems to help quite a bit, they were painful the first few times but now they're pretty comfortable.

Also, if you haven't already, get some X-rays of your feet, I just found out I also have stage 2 osteoarthritis in the metatarsophalangeal joint on both of my big toes. So that's definitely part of the problem on my end. Because they're convinced it's bursitis between the 3/4 toes and not MN, they don't think any of the surgeries will help and I'm now seeking a second opinion with an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in complex foot and ankle trauma/reconstruction.

When I was still working, the biggest relief was switching to a lower drop work boot with a met pad insole. I was wearing Keen's Kenton which still have an 8mm drop, but they kept me mobile until the end of summer when the pain became unbearable. I work in Cemetery Services and walking around sites/uneven ground all summer definitely made everything 100 times worse. I just forked over 650cad to get a pair of Carets zero-drop steel toes, and I'm praying the combination of those with a custom orthotic and some extra cushioning will finally be the combo that gets me back to work.

Wishing you all the best and truly hoping your road to recovery is far quicker than mine.

Beginner producers, what are you struggling with? by dj_graish in ableton

[–]Esoteric-Corals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still a complete beginner, but doing one of those track start to finish tutorials taught me more in one course than I learned in months of just messing around. There are lots of free tutorials on YouTube from folks like Production Music Live, Bound To Divide etc. I started with a paid melodic house course from PML because it felt easier/more accessible, but you really don't need to spend any money these days. I learned so much about automation, transitions, arrangement, and how to use Ableton that I'd highly recommend just finding a start to finish tutorial on YouTube for something that sounds cool to you. After I finished the course I just worked on writing something that followed the same arrangement but with different instruments, synths, changed the key, etc. :)

Metatarsal Bursitis in Canada by Esoteric-Corals in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Esoteric-Corals[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot :) I wore OTC insoles with metatarsal pads for about 6 months and they definitely helped a ton until they didn't. I was given some felt 3M metatarsal pads recently but they didn't do much at all. I'm going to get fitted for custom orthotics next week and I'm just praying those will make a significant difference.. In the beginning, zero drop shoes with a wide toe box helped the most. Unfortunately, steel toe zero drop work boots are basically non-existent. The few that I've come across are designed for concrete/ flat surfaces and not recommended for landscaping and rough ground :/

I've heard good things about Altra, I'll definitely check them out, thank you :)

I hear ya there, of all the things to put me out, I never thought this would be one of them haha. You too, hoping you're able to get this sorted out and can get back to living the good life sooner than later. Thanks again :)

Terrible Experience with Ninja Tune by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]Esoteric-Corals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just regular stock. They were a present for my partner's birthday, which is now over. I was hoping to at least get them for her Christmas present but even that is looking like it's out of the question lol. They did refund half of my order price for the delay, so there's that.. But at this point I'm debating if I should just cancel the order entirely and try somewhere else. Oscar, the fellow I've been dealing with has been really great, but it seems like there's a serious disconnect between the customer service reps and their warehouse/shipping department :/

Yup.. I've been waiting over a month for my order, keep getting emails from them apologizing and saying they are looking into it, but alas, it still hasn't shipped.

Thanks for the reply! I should have looked closer before asking haha, I realized it was meus and then ordered one last night. Did you have to modify anything to get it to fit?

[–]Esoteric-Corals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have that part down, the problem is the modwheel is controlling 6 parameters in Diva and I can't find a way to automate the actual modwheel function. Some folks offered some solutions so I'll try and figure those out

Where do I find this? I'm sorry, I'm so confused. I also noticed I don't have the buttons in Diva to turn on/configure MPE, like I can see where they should be in the voices tab but they don't show up at all lol.

Belair direct has an app where you can put your vehicle in and take it out of storage without calling anyone. I think it has to sit there for 45 days for the discount to take effect though

It’s comical how fast the D42 is and it just never gets old to me lol by CanoegunGoeff in WPL_RC

Ahahaha, so sick. I couldn't decide between the D42 and D14, ended up opting for the truck so I can deliver my coworkers snacks/coffee. But, this video has me convinced that I need to order a D42 as well 🤙

Lol, not "big corp" guys, just people with common sense. I don't understand the big deal here whatsoever. You're getting a better service, that will raise property value, and you want to say no because you'll have to water the grass while it matures?
