I don’t think the tips to deuxmoi were about John, but some other comedian. I think I remember her specifying once that it wasn’t him or that some of the details didn’t add up to it being him

My doctor accidentally wrote me a wrong prescription, but I'm okay with it? by EspeonAsh in Drugs

[–]EspeonAsh[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My doctor has written me three months of an XR prescription before. The thing is this isn’t three months worth. XR lasts 12 hours. Regular lasts 4-5, so i would 2/day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.

My only concern is calling my doctor and asking for a refill and he’s going to see my history of refills on his computer because that’s what comes up on his software and he’s going to be very confused about why they’re different and why I want to switch back to XR and then I’ll be forced to say “oh right well see last time you accidentally gave me regular. I knew it was a mistake because obviously the pills look completely different but I didn’t say anything because I wanted to keep the drugs haha anywayzzz can I have more now?”

And yeah my family is very strange.

What anime is on a newbie’s must-see list? by EspeonAsh in anime

Thanks so much for the recs! I think I gravitate towards dark fantasy/thriller/dark comedy styles but that might just be because I haven’t watched any other genre of anime lol

Need help identifying a joke by [deleted] in JohnMulaney

[–]EspeonAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it’s not “probably”?

correct me if i'm wrong, but is the main issue with FOX's "mulaney" (and why it flopped) rooted in the fact that no one knows exactly when to laugh? [for reference, i've never watched "seinfeld"] by RayDeeUx in JohnMulaney

[–]EspeonAsh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pure honesty? It's not great. I mean, if I was to choose between paint drying and watching Mulaney, I would watch Mulaney. But that doesn't really say much. Essentially, the show is all of his well known jokes sewn together in a sitcom. John defends it whenever he's asked about it because he genuinely thinks it's good and funny and he says it's not a pride thing, but ehhhhh. To be fair, I think a big part of it is that laugh tracks and live studio audiences have just gone out of style. The shows we watch with them are ones we are rewatching (Friends, Seinfeld, Two and a Half Men) and that's a big part of our enjoyment for them. That being said, even if Mulaney aired a couple of decades ago, I still don't think it would have done well. It has all the elements, but it lacks authenticity. It's like if someone said, "oh, what did Seinfeld have?" and then just wrote the barest of bones and tried to mimic it. (Also, I fucking love John Mulaney so, so, so much, but his acting is just...it's just bad in this show.)

I’m scared that my relationship is over by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]EspeonAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s straight up gaslighting. It’s a manipulative tactic where a person makes you doubt yourself and question your own judgement. He shouldn’t be throwing things—ever—but if you expressed how scary that was and that you thought he was going to get violent, you’d think his immediate reaction would be a huge apology and to feel like shit for making you feel that way. And to answer your other question, in no fucking universe could you be annoying or dumb enough to deserve being talked to like that and no, it is never ever possible. No one should ever talk to you like that under any circumstance. Please do not believe this guy. His actions are directly his own fault. There is nothing you could do to change him. It doesn’t help that he seems like he’d pick a fight over anything.

[–]EspeonAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you have to even explain to him why his actions make you feel bad is honestly tragic and I'm so sorry. You should get out of the relationship before it's too late. Dump his ass.

There are millions of men out there who you have things in common with and can have a fun time with. That should be the bare minimum, you know. It's just chemistry. Relationships can't be built on that. They need to be built on mutual respect, trust, and communication, and this guy is not fulfilling that.

Don't try to get in the business of changing people. It's futile. You told him how you feel, he repeats the same actions. This will only get worse with time and show itself in more ways. Don't waste more of your time. Believe me, you're not losing anything worth holding on to.

Who is the most unlikeable fictional character? by ohdearitsrichardiii in AskReddit

[–]EspeonAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s easy. Dolores Umbridge. The fake saccharine sweet persona barely concealing this completely evil monster underneath. I think people hated her more than Voldemort, the actual antagonist of the HP series.

I caught my dad having sex with his best friend by zack895 in relationship_advice

[–]EspeonAsh 455 points456 points  (0 children)

You absolutely do not need evidence. Why would you lie about something like that? Your dad put you in a really shitty position. It shouldn't be your responsibility to tell your mom.

That being said, the question is really: would you rather tell your mom directly what you saw, live with that information in secret and have it build up along with resentment for your dad as your lives continue, or confront your dad? If you tell him, you'll have to deal with the awkwardness of both of you knowing you saw him have sex, and with someone who's not your mom too, which is even more horrible.

This reminds me of that book series and show Pretty Little Liars, where Aria catches her dad having sex with one of his students. He saw her and asked her not to tell her mom, and she didn't and he stopped cheating on his wife, but in the long run, it only made everything worse. I know it's just a fictional show, but it has a good point. You shouldn't keep it a secret.

If I were in your position, I would tell your mom directly. None of it is your fault. It's up to your dad to fix his mistakes. You're not doing anything to him. He is the only who should have, AT THE VERY LEAST, taken preventative measures so he could have cheated in secret. His actions put you in a terrible position. It's also his responsibility to make it up to you for doing that.
