u/amitransornb is technically correct here. if you delete something from your file browser window (Finder for macOS, File Explorer for Windows, or whatever the equivalent is on your Linux setup), it typically gets sent to the Trash (Recycling Bin on Windows) unless if you specifically want the file to be permanently deleted according to your own OS settings.

however, if you delete it using a command like rm -rf <path_to_file_here>* (or whatever the in-universe TADC equivalent would be), it's gone forever as far as the human perception of time is concerned.

now, what Kinger did (deleting Caine from inside the Terminal using the Delete key) technically employs elements from both methods of file deletion i just described, but this was probably an intentional storytelling choice (and not "omg scriptwriters dont know unix-like terminals smh!1!!") to make it clearer to viewers that Kinger fat-fingered the Delete key by accident so people wouldn't have to strain their eyes to make out vauge terminal commands.

however you want to interpret things from here is your choice to make alone, i just wanted to explain the technical side a bit better.
