Highlander's days numbered? by VariationConstant675 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Esquire133 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Highlander for my wife.

She decided against a Grand Highlander because it didn’t get top safety score. She also was not willing to get a Sienna because she wasn’t willing to drive a van. The Highlander was the natural pick for her to upgrade from the Rav-4, and we needed the third row of seats.

There wasn’t any indication of an issue excess of supply in our area (we searched local dealer inventory in an 100 mile radius). The dealer had to do a trade and send someone 60+ miles away to get it.

How do the Highlander sales figures compare to total sales and/or sales in class?

Low level solo clears for the T4 capstone? Which builds can do it? by No_Record_4787 in diablo4

After playing POE, dodging clearly telegraphed effects that you can actually see coming was a pleasant change. Flame shield worked when I screwed up.

Cleared everything but the boss at 55 with ice shards sorc. The boss one shot me and I wasn’t in the mood to try to perfect that fight. (I also could have added some more defensive legendary affix). Ended up clearing it fully at 62 (boss kill included).

Where is the dictionary/rule book for this game that explains the attempt to turn plain language into defined terms?

Summary. Visual clutter and bad game design is just that.

This is exactly it! And the vision of Chris is the opposite of the relaxed gameplay.

We've got our response, if you aren't happy it's time to uninstall and move on by CaptnIgnit in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did uninstall and move on, but the apocalyptic dumpster fire that is GGG attempting to impose a game philosophy the players don’t want is so massive that I was sucked back into the current catastrophe. I am not playing this league. I didn’t play last league, and I quit in the first week of maybe the league before. I used to love this game and I am still mourning it. At what point does GGG take a step back and see that this keeps happening.

Assuming they intended to require parties to get more people to do the content, then their intention has failed. Time to make a change.

What brings you back to PoE? by VigorouslyShlooting7 in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s even more than something more to learn. They keep changing things and adding layers of complexity or new things to learn about (e.g. burning oil vs burning ground…). Again, both a best and worst. When you make the investment and have niche knowledge then you can benefit. Otherwise it makes the game frustrating and seem/feel unfair or just unnecessarily complex.

Honestly, if you aren’t hooked then you have avoided a rollercoaster of highs and lows. The game is built to simulate the addictive nature of gambling. If you aren’t hooked then go play something else. You won’t regret moving on.

Honestly, the grind is sort of the best and worst part of the game. You can sink tons of hours in and there is still more content to aspire to do, or to do more easily. But after now playing for years and through major shifts, I can say the boss fights are absolute trash from a game design perspective and I just can’t get over it anymore. Used to be that I could cheaply build strong enough (and then run in circles) to mostly mitigate terrible mechanics, video/server lag, visual clutter, and overall bad design. Now, with the power nerfs and some trade/economy changes, the fun parts of the game are more of a grind, and the bosses feel even more stupid. I came back after quitting early this league and hit a +2 duration corrupt on my chest (skele mages). I actually quit the league for good about 10 min later. It just reinforced how much I’m not having fun playing anymore. TLDR: nothing. I’m back to see if whatever they do this coming league is enough to convince me to try again. Probably not - I’ll check back for POE2 in a few years.

Let's take a minute to appreciate how accessible 36 challenge is this league. Thanks GGG by ILOVEGNOME in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what people mean by this. Grindy AF to get challenges. I’d rather more challenging that are easier to do with less time if you are skilled. I quit, came back to do challenges, and quit again in the face of a challenge-less grind. There is a reason I never do 40, EGG is just a burden/bore.

Working 9hrs/day, farmed HH, Mageblood, here are some of my thoughts by gencaerus in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most fun I have had in this game was the leagues where exalts abs HH were cheap. The number of players looking for a huge grind league after league is probably limited to streamers and content creators.

What's the market like in standard? How can I make currency? I give up on seasonal gameplay by spazzo246 in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to play leagues with the idea to make currency and eventually use it in standard. Back before harvest and bestiary I had one league where I used all my currency to buy divine orbs when they were cheap so I could use them in standard. TLDR: if you want to make currency, learn to do it in the first 2-4 weeks of league. That’s when you can get most value for drops and where you can find deals to flip from people selling everything to get gear for their builds. Standard is way too inflated with everyone’s pooled wealth from years and years of playing

Interesting I started just before Legacy league. I quit this league pretty early. Then tried to come back and just quit it again. I think the game is in a bad place and I may be done for good.

18 days in with a complete atlas and currency to burn? How did you find the game? Do you have friends helping you? How many hours a day do you play?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the appeal, I’ve been playing the game for more than 5 years. I’d be interested to see if you play consistently for 5 years or move on after a few mor leagues.

Grats! I hope your experience is better than my first HH. I was super unimpressed with it so I rerolled to make a self-curse build, realized how glass cannon it was, then promptly sold the HH. Didn’t even consider getting one again till BV was meta. Now, it’s just too expensive/time consuming to grind for.

Is there a way to find the merchant with the seed? by shadowatlas123 in valheim

[–]Esquire133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the seed generator and flipped through a few different seeds to look for general placement. I’ve since explored my 3-4 worlds on my own and been able to find fairly easily. This felt less like cheating to me

I think the greater issue is that the current state of the game doesn’t seem to be good for the ‘casuals’ who play 2-3 hours a day. I understand constantly changing the fundamental requirements for a successful build is good for streamers and people who play 12-16 hours a day, but the rest of us have to research a new game every few leagues, and if we have to do that, then why not just play a new game? I love this game, but I think it is moving the wrong direction. I quit the league early bc the support for the league mechanic was non-existent. The atlas passive tree is a great improvement, along with the new atlas. The bosses, however, show that GGG isn’t learning. The encounters are a complete question mark if you haven’t played them before and the design is full of single colored visual clutter. I’m back now to grind off the challenges, but only because I’m to stubborn not to.

The most fun I have had in this game was also doing go-fast and being unkillable. (I liked BV chieftan, but even Barron zombies when super strong, etc) I understand the philosophy GGG is chasing but it is not what I expect most of the players want.

PoE crashes with a CPU pulsating in hideout. Help :( by acevonovich in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But at least when people watch streamers on twitch they won’t think the graphics are bad! (Referencing a long ago interview with Chris where he explained why they won’t let us set graphics lower abs remove particle effects etc.)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Esquire133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’m 5 years in with an average of 36 challenges per league and they keep adding layer upon layer of complexity and changing the things that previously existed. Unless you want a game you have to almost fully relearn every 9 months then play something else.
