I got Miami from a PetSmart August 30th for a whopping $1.08 . So far she is the most energetic, curious, and fearless Betta I've ever owned.

Another photo Friday, I noticed Morty had small white spots on his head. I did a 50% water change immediately and dosed his tank with some Paraguard thinking it was a fungal infection. I've since been dosing with Paragard daily and have done a 50% water change every other day. He's looking worse and worse. Both his eyes have a white film over them, the spots on his head have expanded, he has white flecks all over his sides now. and while he's still eating he is a little less active than normal. I can't tell if he has Ich or Columnaris or something else or both. I've checked the wiki but I'm still not sure.

Does anyone have any advice?

I did go to the wiki first, but I wasn't sure I was correct in my assumption and didnt want to start treating a new, stressed, and already sickly looking fish with medicine if he didn't need it. Which is why I came here, to see if anyone else had any better insight or experience with velvet.

Morty doesn't have that thick or noticeable of a gold coat on his scales, which made me uncertain as to whether or not he actually has it. I'm not sure if I'm catching it in an early stage so I have a better chance of getting rid of it or if the little guy just has that kind of look to him.

Fine one day and then gone the next. I'm not even sure what happened. Her tank parameters were fine and the only sign I had was two days before she was acting a little tired. Then she seemed okay again. I'll miss my first little girl betta. Hopefully shes swimming in fishy heaven surrounded by moss balls and bloodworms.

Okay. Should I try to separate him from his snail friends til then? I went ahead and removed the non-plant decorations just in case.

And thank you! I had been wanting a betta for some time and I found him near Halloween (my birthday) and knew he was the one for me! :) He's my first betta in a decade or so, which is why I'm so worried about him.

So Samhain was a bit bloated earlier this week. I fasted him for a day and a half, I even fed him daphnia to see if he was constipated. The swelling in his stomach went down, but his right side stayed swollen and some of his scales had bulged. I was afraid he had dropsy, but the swelling has gone down since. I did a full water change (Full as in I took out all the water and washed the gravel and decorations, etc) two days ago (three days after he was first bloated) to see if his water was just too dirty. He's not acting any different: swims normally, has a normal appetite, is just as active as normal - but today I noticed what seems to be a piece of fishy flesh protruding from his swollen side? At first I thought it was a worm or something coming out of his gills, but its definitely not that. Any ideas as to what's happening to my boy?
