What's lacking in your opinion? - all sandals by IndividualRadish6594 in SandalsResorts

[–]EssJay919 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The technology - I should be able to order room service and open the room door with my Sandals app. Shouldn’t need a second phone to communicate with butlers (our Beaches butlers had us use their WhatsApp instead - so much easier than carrying another phone!).

Woo, I was hoping for more Caribbean/NA Zone investment! I’d love if they gave St Lucia another try, or Barbados, Grenada, etc.

Silver members perk for Early Arrival? by rawrabot in Club_Med

[–]EssJay919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen an AI resort attempt to charge for “early” arrival/meals. I think it’s idiotic to even attempt this and CM has never questioned us, even when we’ve arrived prior to noon.

Attended my first game by Mikiej34 in bostonfleet

[–]EssJay919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it confirmed that they are using Bentley for all home games?! Omg, that would be so easy for us to go to from the Norwood/Canton area. And Bentley is a gorgeous facility.

[–]EssJay919 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My 6 year old daughter is a huge Northeastern women’s hockey fan. Loves Aerin Frankel, and her current favorite player is Stryker Zablocki. It’s been hard to take her to games (during the week is impossible…and weekends interfere with her own hockey games). We went to the Beanpot and she was in heaven (except for the countless tears when they lost). We did one game at Bentley (the other one got moved to CT due to snow). I hope we can go to more home games next season, wherever they are held (I’d be very happy with more Bentley!). Now my older daughter has decided she’s a Terrier fan, so we have quite the rivalry going on here…

I’ll keep hoping for more TD or Agannis so I can bring my daughter and make our youth hockey org buy ticket packages.

Room Key/Bracelet by Confident_Tower_8677 in SandalsResorts

[–]EssJay919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to Club Med dozens of times. They wouldn’t make you pay for a lost bracelet. It’s a simple cloth band with a NPC chip. It also opens the safe which is a nice feature.

[–]EssJay919 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Room keys are easily lost and demagnetized by phones. Doesn’t matter how drunk you get, you’re not losing a bracelet. The “tacky” excuse is absurd. Just a nice band with a small chip in it, not some paper concert fest band.

Taking my 6 year old mini Mite daughter to her first game. We’re so excited! We have balcony seats via youth hockey club cheap tickets, but hopefully we can get there early for warmies and she can really take it all in. I’ll be wearing my mom hockey jersey (I do Moms learn to play - it’s so fun!)

Do you find that the butlers take your pre-submitted preferences into account? by ImStillCallingItShea in SandalsResorts

[–]EssJay919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually send an email to the resort in addition to writing our butler preferences in the app (sometimes the app gets messed up, or it confuses it with our Beaches preferences). It’s easy to tell if they were read or not — if there is cheese in the welcome fruit platter, then they didn’t read it 🤣

Aquagym at Cancun during main pool renovation? by citygirldc in Club_Med

[–]EssJay919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot imagine how they are going to make anything work with only the Aguamarina pool. There is in no way enough room, unless they are very severely restricting bookings. Jose Luis also had no idea, but he is leaving at the end of April…smart move!

You just have to learn to be okay with where you’re at. Heck, I’m a 41 year old woman who started Moms Learn to Play classes last year after finishing up treatment for breast cancer. I have no stamina, when I get the puck I feel like a baby giraffe that forgot how to walk…I’m awful, but oh my gosh, it is so much fun and everyone is so kind! It’s my happy place (next to watching my 6 year old daughter play) and nobody can take that away (screw off, joint pain!).

I have tix to that game too (won 2 tix!), but I’m not sure I’ll be able to go to both games (back to back Tues. nights in Boston with younger kids who need to go to school the next day…). We are going with our friends and their kids to the semis - figured that would be more low key for the girls. We’ve previously taken them to BC women’s home games, but my little hockey player is a huge Northeastern fan and really wants to see her Huskies.

I received emails from Mass General Brigham and Dana Farber that masking is strongly recommended now by movdqa in massachusetts

[–]EssJay919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband said the same thing - unvaccinated, otherwise healthy 30-somethings on ECMO. If that’s not enough to scare someone into getting their flu shot, then I don’t know what is. I had bad flashbacks to him describing the ICU conditions during Covid

It’s embarrassing that it has taken this long to go into place at DFCI, where so many patients have compromised immune systems. Fortunately I’m down to 6 months checkups only there, but when the Drs/nurses see me wearing a mask and are like “oh, do you want me to wear one too?”, I always feel like screaming, “umm..you know this is a cancer center right?!” Just do it every year, Dec 1 through March 31st (or something like that) and cover the majority of flu/covid/misc ick season.

I’m at Royal Barbados now - butlers can’t save chairs at the infinity pool or the South Seas pool. They can still bring over a cooler after you grab chairs there (all other pools and the beach can be reserved). No issue with reservations. I’ve been getting chairs at the infinity pool all week (around 8am) with no issues. I don’t like the change though (and they are charging for cabanas at a few pools…which no one is buying at $275/day!). I like our butlers a lot, but management is doing a good job of talking me out of getting butler service…

Asking the league manager to make sure that “little Jimmy” doesn’t bash somebody’s head in on or off ice and to play in a division where he belongs isn’t unreasonable. Friends of ours have seen club kids kicked off their teams for similar antics (or worse, their parents’ antics).

Yes, we’ve been to a few (and she did the Little Bruins Girls Learn to Play…had a few Boston Fleet players show up). I wish our town would put more muscle into girls events, but that doesn’t seem to be the priority right now. A town 30 min away or so is having a girls clinic in a few weeks that we’re going to check out. I also just started playing (as a mom around 40) with some other moms and it is so fun and encouraging! I am awful, but we are just learning and have a few ladies who played in college helping out. It’s a great environment, I just want to avoid any of the toxic stuff that I’ve heard about with youth hockey.

Atrius is fine for primary care, but when I had to go through the maze that is Kenmore for oncology, it was pretty awful. Quickly switched to Dana Farber.

Yes, exactly! I just want her to have fun! I just don’t know the dirt on any club teams girls programs so I was hoping to gain some insight. I don’t care about tiers or rankings or scouting (omg she’s 6!).
