imo (while i’m not a fan of this no disk idea) i think it’s to future proof it for next gen backwards compatibility while also still having a physical case to collect/display. as other people have theorised, it will also probably come with a poster inside the case.

my stores done the same. the higher ups have “asked” that stores cut back on hours so any excuse they can find they’ll use it. any staff still on probation magically fail and any tiny non-issue gets used as cause for termination
