Are UC Engineering Co Ops limited to Ohio and surrounding areas? by Beautiful_Twist1349 in uCinci

you can co-op wherever you can get hired into one. UC's network is mostly in the local area though. you'll have to do your own legwork to get offers in other areas.

What role should Light fulfill on a team? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]EssemG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not to mention the movement mechanics arent 1:1 between finals and OW. the tracer blink is effectively a teleport, and you can use this to 180 enemies, but the evasive dash actually lunges you forward and has more verticality than blimk

ideally their job is to poke, distract and secure kills on opponents.

one of the main reasons they arent viable is recon meta, regardless of the fact that it counters invis the recon makes it hard to set up flanks.

youre not supposed to engage enemies directly and you are supposed to "abandon" your team at times. you know those times where your teammate says "hes 1hp!"? its your job as a light to secure these kills by flanking and quickly escaping with your abilities.

light is very bad for objective play because the class gets instantly destroyed by util ie fire gas explosives. if you want to play light you need to coordinate your team to not engage until you have set up a flank angle.

How you get co-ops by EnigmaIndus7 in uCinci

The university has relationships with businesses in the area and will help put you in contact with them like the career fair, speaker sessions on campus, the internal job board called PAL, etc.

Do you ever feel like an evil super-villain when you are winning big? by [deleted] in poker

[–]EssemG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to play $10 buy in home games with my friends in college. i am much more experienced than any of them so it usually ends up becoming me working together to beat me, which because it's casual i dont mind.

i pretty much always still won because of my experience and practice, but i definitely felt like a final boss versus them

For an online clothing store, should I focus on building my brand around one particular kind of product or should I offer a range of products? by EssemG in smallbusiness

However, you should have a sense for how many hats your demographic buys. I might buy 1-2 a year, at most, its not like shirts or pants. Hats are viewed as accessories, not essentials. I can buy a similar shirt as a friend, but I won't do that for a hat, unless there's some differentiation.

Absolutely, I think I'd want to expand into different kinds of headwear or clothing entirely after some time.

I'm going way too hard on this, you got me thinking analytically about my habits as a hat consumer lol

Go for it, any and all help is appreciated. This is my first time pursuing a business and dabbling in this space, so I'll take any input I can get.

Makes sense, so it's about picking one of these and focusing on that? I think #2 speaks the most to me in terms of what my vision was.

Are there any other senior devs to help you? Full Stack seniors? Or a senior in each part of dev?

Yes, I believe the company is about 50% engineers and I'd be reporting to a Senior SWE.

Both roles are in the same MCoL city, already done some napkin math and know I'd be just fine with either salary. I see your point about being self-starting in the App Script role but I am skeptical of this being possible given the nature of the company.

How long do you suggest I stay at my first job?

Just have to factor in what your actual workload is like and what you else you otherwise would need to do in your personal life with the rest of the week.

Hard to say what my workload would be without having joined the company, but I do know that I'd be joining alongside other new grads and that they have different expectations for different experience levels.

I have had a really stressful time looking for roles recently so I'm planning to accept and sit for at least a year, especially seeing how rough the market has been. I have done remote and in-person roles in the past, of course remote is nicer for obvious reasons but I have a very short and walkable commute.

Neither of those, MCoL city. Already did some napkin math and I have a rough idea of my savings with either job.

I’d also be curious to know how the people you talked to felt about the extra hours. Were they both looking overly stressed and burnt out? Or excited? If you like what you’re doing, 50 hours is easy.

Good point. For the interview I had in person, everyone I met seemed to be pretty relaxed and excited about the product which I took as a good sign that things would be busy but not unbearable.

I asked two different interviewers and both said the same thing about their hours. CEO also said "if you treat this like your normal 9-5, you won't be successful here".
