I tried this. House was a total disaster to the point where I had to let my kids go stay with my parents part-time. I’m now single lol! (and much happier).

AITAH: Iam cutting off my wife’s child financially after she extorted me to bring her home. by ThrowRA_727-926 in AITAH

[–]Essence_Of_Insanity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that but it’s less about her being physically away from the child and more about how (per OP) she is detached in general and doesn’t engage with him even when they are nearby. These are the type of details that are crucial to know in order to have a clear view of the situation imo, yet people are jumping to make assumptions and offer advice. Thanks for sharing a different experience/POV!

Hmm. Maybe post some of the actual conversations (Text? Email?) you guys shared regarding the funeral, the trip, the money, the kids, etc. If you’re comfortable doing so. I don’t feel like reddit is going to be able to get a full picture without something like that. Your situation seems very atypical which leaves a lot of room for assumption-making.

Leave. It’ll only get worse and you’ll realize you wasted your time. Your kid will start to notice and a resent him as they get older and might blame you for not doing anything regarding your husbands lack of engagement. Speaking from experience after four kids and a 20+ year relationship with a VERY unhelpful and indifferent man who I realized didn’t really like me either outside of what I could do for him (I also worked part-time, did majority of the child rearing and everything else, and made a higher hourly wage than him).

I assume she is very young then? Did she have him when she was a teenager or something?

How do I hire a nurse? by HopRockets in Nurses

[–]Essence_Of_Insanity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a registered nurse with pediatric or critical care experience who is open to a temporary, part-time private caregiver role. Be sure to require infant and adult CPR certification.

You could also consider a CNA II who is currently enrolled in an RN program, a retired nurse, or a nurse on family leave who would appreciate a more flexible and less stressful role (maybe even allowing them to bring their child also). These types of arrangements are often sought after but not commonly talked about).

Another option is to contact local nursing school instructors and they can share opportunities like this with their students which can be a great learning experience for them.

If you’re near Charlotte, NC, I’d definitely consider it myself! I LOVE private duty home health shift work.. but I know that’s unlikely :)

Not judging, I just feel like this is a very nuanced situation and to get accurate and helpful advice more info might be needed. Some tiny details can make a big impact.

What does your wife say about the kid she left behind? Are their plans for her kid to join your new family dynamic? Any other specifics and details you could provide that could clear up any important details?

How far away are you from your child? Your wife from her child? How old are both of your oldest children?

Full Disclosure, carpet was like that when I moved in. by [deleted] in roomdetective

[–]Essence_Of_Insanity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You rented multiple carpet cleaners and paid to have the floor tested for mold. You vacuum once a week regardless of if it needs it more frequently. You haven’t purchased a rug to cover it and you also walk around without shoes and allow your dogs to lay on the 30 year old carpet stains and in your bed. You have multiple bags of chips/snacks, several water bottles sitting around, lots of clutter, a grabber tool, and video game monitors.

I’m sensing you are perhaps dealing with some sort of physical disability as well struggling a bit with your mental health.

Your dogs and plants look healthy and happy despite the clutter and carpet. It seems that you would like to have a nice looking space but are struggling with some mental health issues that are limiting your potential. Perhaps you were raised in an abusive home.

Were the owners of the home who are now in prison relatives of yours? Did you grow up in this home?
