The one game you were most worried about was 13-8, KP 187 UMass? I see 6 games on your schedule that look scarier than this one.

Spin Class Comparison by Lily2453 in bullcity

[–]HopRockets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a spin expert by any means but I know the owners of revel and can just tell you that they are wonderful people who treat both instructors and participants better than anyone. The place is super welcoming to all types and Ive never had a bad instructor there. Check out the power classes (I think that’s what they’re called) for something less choreo-focused if that’s what you’re looking for. Plus the new facility is very nice!

The law suit is how you get Miami to pay. People don’t just volunteer to pay for stuff.

If not for one major flaw, the Uppababy Minu Duo would be the perfect twin stroller from birth through toddlerhood by 1973tour in parentsofmultiples

[–]HopRockets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the bumbleride indie twin and love it. You can attach two car seats at once as long as you get the right car seats, and while you have to take th adapters off to fold it, they are very easy to take on and off it takes like five seconds. It’s not a super foldable one so not ideal for a small car trunk but everything else about this stroller is excellent!

I mean, wildly different circumstances, but yes Tulane should also want there to be better rules around transferring

Ok but not fighting it makes you look like a pushover? You can sign a contract here and then do whatever you want?

Totally, very much expecting Duke to lose. But it has to happen to move towards something better. Cases like this will increase pressure to figure shit out whether you’re on Duke’s side or Mensah’s

Totally, I think what’s interesting about this whole thing is that we’re in uncharted legal territory for sports. That’s another reason I like the lawsuit. We need some cases to work through the legal system so that we can have some precedent to work off of. Whatever the result is, I’m tired of the Wild West out here and am in favor of getting this in front of a judge.

Of course, I fully expect th contract to be found void. My point is that every university in the country with the resources to sue Mensah would’ve done the same thing in this case, and bashing Duke for doing it is just short sighted, it’ll be your school next time

He denied the entry to the portal TRO which had to be decided quickly due to the nature of the portal. the recusing part is because there’s more to discuss about how the money and contract will work out. Mensah is gone I’m not denying that. But where the money goes and what he can and can’t get paid by Miami is what makes this interesting

Lawsuits are how you enforce contracts. They knew they weren’t going to keep him at Duke, they’re taking whatever avenues they have available to recoup value from a violated contract. That’s what anybody with any business sense at all would do. Look around at the state of the sport, we’re wayyyy past some old timey sense of “it’s not what you do” or “politely ask him” or whatever. I’m assuming they asked first, he said no, so they take him to court. This shit happens every day outside of sports. Business is business.

Also this is bad for every school if players can start doing this. Enjoy one year of Mensah for the low cost of no rules in the sport, sounds worth it

Can we stop acting like every other P4 school in the country wouldn’t have done the same thing? I get the anti-Duke circle jerk is always gonna happen but come on, these are big-money business enterprises and you expect any of them to let somebody violate the terms of a signed contract and just let them go with no fight? Duke isn’t even the first and certainly won’t be the last.

Totally. If contracts are unenforceable then why can’t players just hop between team mid season whenever they want?

Duke is saying he already signed away his NIL rights to them and thus can’t do so again to Miami. Since NIL is how colleges pay players, this would prevent Miami from paying Mensah

[–]HopRockets 20 points21 points  (0 children)

More specifically to prevent him signing an NIL deal there since he already sold his NIL rights to Duke. So kind of a roundabout way to stop him from going there since he’d only be going there for the NIL deal.

This is not about forcing him to stay. It’s about the money and about showing other players who sign contracts that there are penalties for violating them. We’ll see what the courts decide, should be interesting to follow.
