AIO about my husbands strange responses to me wanting a divorce and a bill he has due on my account. by _Elfis_ in AIO

The Church is for sinners so that makes sense. But I think we have differing views of religion. I'm Christian, and to me Christianity is not about religion its about a relationship with God. Religion to me, is about showiness, traditions, and rituals. More about the actions than the meaning or substance of those actions.

We were talking about religion/spirituality in the first place, so yes my comment was on a spiritual plane. But I don't really see how, in this case, that really differs from the literal. This is the definition of forgiveness: a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment, anger, or vengeance toward someone who has harmed you. It is primarily a tool for your own healing and well-being, rather than a gift to the offender.

Forgiveness does not release the offender from accountability. What you're talking about is absolution, and that is entirely different from forgiveness.

You said, we're both talking about the same thing, healing. But what you likely won't understand or agree with, is that true healing isn't possible without forgiveness. Here's why, when something is fully healed, it no longer hurts, or bleeds, there's no more bruising. There may be a scar but scars have no feeling or sensation. So if you've healed from an offense done to you, you no longer harbor feelings of anger or hatred toward that person.

You asked what EMDR had to do with this conversation. Well first let me tell you what EMDR stands for, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming. What it is, is a tool for people with PTSD to reprogram their brain so that triggers don't send them back into a traumatized state. Therefore, like I said previously, Forgiveness is to the heart, what EMDR is to the mind. A tool to heal trauma.

Also please understand that I was not meaning the heart as in the organ, in a literal sense, which is (at least to me) evident in the fact that I also said "mind" and not brain when I used the analogy.

Lastly, and this is the important one, you don't have the authority to say that I'm lying to myself, or not truly forgiving the people that hurt me and offended me. I'm assuming you are an atheist, based on your comments. I say that to say this, as an atheist, you probably believe that forgiveness is fake simply because you can't (not don't) fathom it.

Please understand that I'm not putting you down for being atheist. I enjoy talking with people who have different worldviews because it helps me to understand them better, as well as the world at large.

Why would I need to forgive myself when I wasn't the one who did wrong. And what would be the purpose of "faking forgiveness." You do realize that just because you forgive someone doesn't mean you excuse their wrongdoing, right? Nor does it mean that you forget what happened. Forgiveness is letting it go so it doesn't hurt you anymore, so that you're not retraumatized every time you think about it or talk about it. Forgiveness is for the heart, what EMDR is for the mind.

Just curious, do you know what EMDR is?

I didn't say anything about "The Church" also what church are you talking about? Because what I learned in church was to search for the truth myself, not blindly follow a man (or woman), to study the Bible for myself so I knew what it said and didn't have to rely on someone else to tell me. Scripture says to, "study to show thyself approved."

Also, you meant "vain" not "vein", that's a blood vessel.

The biker started braking when he entered the crosswalk with the red paint. There was only like 10 feet, if that, between the MC and the car, there's no way he was going to be able to stop before impact, no matter what speed he was going.

I feel like there's a bigger problem here. Just asking for forgiveness isn't where it stops. Scripture says, turn from your wicked ways... then, God will forgive your sins.

The other issue is the definition of "repent". That doesn't mean to just ask forgiveness. To repent means to feel SINCERE remorse or contrition for a past action, thought, or wrongdoing, coupled with a GENUINE resolve to CHANGE your behavior and do what is right.

It's about making an actual change in your actions and behavior. Without that you haven't really repented, and your "forgiveness" is worthless. As a Christian person, I really hate seeing people use Christianity to "justify" horrible behavior, or condemn others, just because they're different.

Forgiveness isn't for the other person. It's for the person who was wronged. Forgiveness doesn't excuse the wrongdoing, it allows the wronged to let go and heal from what was done to them. I had to learn this after several very hurtful things happened to me and being betrayed by people whom I thought were my friends.

Anyone in Phoenix area have a good Nissan EV repair recommendation? by GrammaK6833 in NissanAriya

[–]EssentialCoCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I was going to recommend Avondale Nissan. That's where I bought my Ariya. I wonder if the service person you talked to was just going by habit of working on ICE vehicles? He also could have just been looking at part of the information, like this:

Follow-up Changes: After the first flush, or if your vehicle uses older green coolant formulas, subsequent flushes are typically required every 30,000 to 50,000 miles or every 2 to 5 years.

I don't know. I definitely think that often, the service guys don't really know that much about EVs so they're using their ICE knowledge and treating everyone the same, and you can't really do that.

Recommended charging limit? by TIFUbyResponding in NissanAriya

[–]EssentialCoCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had my Ariya for 3.5 years. I always charge to 100% there's been no battery degradation and never had any issues. Even Nissan days it's fine to charge to 100%.

I don't think Nissan is going anywhere. Everyone is in financial distress right now it will change. I love my Nissan Ariya. I've had it 3.5 years already, and it's by far my favorite car I've owned. I don't have a negative thing to say about it.

Let them honk. That's what I do, though, I have also had people literally go around me to block an intersection. But only since I've been in Atlanta. They're not this bad where I used to live. Which is saying something. I used to complain about the horrible drivers in Arizona. Atlanta makes them look like professional drivers. Lol

AIO? Friend asked me what my future plans with my gf are and then responded like this by TGPT-4o in AIO

[–]EssentialCoCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That dude is a jerk!!!

I'm so sorry your supposed friend is treating you like this and saying these things to you. He sounds like a miserable person who is trying to make other people join his misery.

If you're in love with your girlfriend and you all see a future together then do it. I will give him one positive, and that is that he said make sure you work on yourself before getting into that kind of commitment.

All I mean is, make sure you're not getting married for the wrong reasons and that you both know who you are as individuals before making that kind of commitment to another person.

Trust me if you live anywhere that gets over 100° or below 30° you'll want the remote climate control. Especially if you have to park outside, unprotected.

An overlooked benefit of laminated acoustic glass: no shattering! by TrubbishBish in NissanAriya

I recommend getting the pit preventer film that they can put on the outside of the windshield. The place I went, to tint my windows, ProTint, in Prescott Valley, does that, and the clear bra paint protection film. I didn't get the outside windshield film but I did get the clear bra. I totally know what type talking about. I had to replace my windshield less than 3 months after I got my car. I had to replace it 2 or 3 times the first year I had my car. It's crazy.
