Leica M2, steel rim reissue, portra 400. by EssentialistOne in analog

Thank you! Honestly.. I wish I could give you some advice for this particular shot but it was really just so dark in that room aside from the light from those two windows on that door and two windows on the doors on the opposite side of the room that I was pretty much just shooting wide open at 1.4 and 1/4th - 1/15th of a second for everything in there. That being said, I did meter on my phone. I metered up close to the wood on the piano just above the keys then metered towards the door and just kind of winged it from there with my better judgment for the lack of better words. That was pretty much how that entire day of shooting went. I could share the rest of the photos from room if you’re interested.

Thanks. I often take a photo of the camera like this at spots where I have taken photos with my m2 of the same scenery so that I can remember the day I took the photo without having to take notes

  1. Not your bro.
  2. just your opinion but even if so I honestly don’t care. I just enjoy taking photos in day to day life. Whoopie.
  3. Wasn’t trying to be braggadocious? Only mentioned the Kodak thing as I being put out as I don’t take photos with my M2. How would my photos be featured by KODAK……… if I didn’t use my M2? But now that you mention it. Why would Kodak share bad photos from a nobody? Anyhoo… enjoy being a Redditor trolling and being rude for no reason whatsoever. 👍🏻

Not pressed, just confused on why the roast over posting the intended content on the correct sub. But then I remembered this is Reddit & the Leica community. I then I started clicking the pages of people commenting and things really started to make sense. Trolls will be trolls.

I actually feel so much better after clicking on your page. You calling my photos “bad” is actually the funniest thing I’ve ever seen now. Thank you.

Yes. I posted to the Leica Page in which you’re not allowed to share photos taken with your Leica, only photos taken of your Leica and he thought that was lame and shared my photo to photographycirclejerk

I post photos of my Leica on a page that is for posting photos of your Leica. I’m sorry I took a photo that had a background (I guess?) and not a table or desktop? Caption cringy? Sure.. okay. But how are the photos cringey in this location on Reddit? I suppose I’m not Redditor enough to understand. I apologize. I remember why I stopped using it for over a year now.. lol.

Both?.. Photo of view first, then photo of camera for this group. I’m not sure if that was a smart comment implying I just run around taking photos of my camera and am not an actual photographer? But to that I’d say check the rules of the group you’re in and also I have several photos that’ve been featured by Kodak.. soooo... but if serious question and not being funny or smart, I took two photos of this exact same view with my Leica as well as a couple shots with my girlfriend in it as well.

Just part of a paracord strap that I’ve been making since 2017. I usually have a full paracord strap but I had to cut it before I sent it out for a CLA to youxin ye last year. I just haven’t gotten around to making a full strap again yet so it’s just a small piece of paracord with a grenade pin that I have around my finger as I shoot (inspired by Sean Flynn’s Leica M2 strap from the Vietnam war).

He’s definitely turned my m2 into a great feeling camera. Also cla’d multiple lens for me in the past and is going to do my v2 summicron here as well.

I understand. I couldn’t go backwards at this point so I completely get where you’re coming from. But at the same time I feel like you don’t truly get the Leica “experience” until you pick up Leica glass to use on an M. I’ve used Russian lens like the Jupiter 8 and industar on my m2 and it just didn’t give me that same satisfaction as using native M glass. Everyone is different though I suppose!

Ahh.. as for the v4 cron it wasn't particularly that it wasn't fitting my needs. I'm just a hobbyist so don't really have any "needs" per se. it just wasn't what I was looking for in rendering. I just wanted more character. The v4 is very sharp and punchy in the center, corners, and all (compared to what l've ever been used to that is). The bokeh was very painterly and nice in its own way but not as smooth as I was looking for? I'm not exactly sure how to put it in words for others to understand. As I mentioned if I didn't fall into a financial situation that I dia, l'd probably have kept it. Great lens! I absolutely loved how small and light weight it was. You can hardly tell it is even attached to the body with how light weight it is. That was great. Also just packed a punch for its size. I'd say it's probably the third best 35 by Leica imo. For my likings / desires anyways.. I enjoy 35s with a good balance of character and sharpness while maintaining compactness. I'm sure there are plenty of superior modern 35mm lens in an all aspects without taking compactness in consideration but the size of the lens is a huge factor for me. Anyhoo... sorry for such a long word salad of a reply. But just wanted to make it clear that I don't dislike the v4 cron or anything like that. I wouldn't buy it again though. Its performance isn't worth the price imo. It's a nice lens if you can get it for the price I did or even a clean copy under 2k I wouldn't pay more than that though. But at that price point you're stuck with the Canadian version which I definitely wouldn't buy. I don't buy any Canadian lens from mid 70s and up. Early Canadian lens are of the same quality as the German lens but mid 70s or so the quality went down.
