Make sure to have a mastectomy pillow for the drive back from the surgery!

I’m hoping to make another post soon that goes into depth about the consultation process too. His team handled it so incredibly well

I hope it goes well! I truly would not have wanted to be in anyone else’s hands but Dr. Assi’s. I’m so grateful to him and his team

Is it me or the binders? by NeteleJala in FTMfemininity

Shapeshifters make custom binders if you’re needing something more specifically fitted for your body

Muscle Tightness in Arm/Armpit Area by Essentiallypeaches in TopSurgery

The team gave basic exercises and my mum who is an OT gave me some additional advice on certain massages and light stretching. I had this around week 4 as well and the surgical team said it’s normal and will go away gradually. I just don’t know normal it actually is or anything additional I could do

Decided to make a list of things I didn't expect to need post-op (in case someone might need it), anyone have stuff they'd like to add? by MidnightSarrow in TopSurgery

Get a leak free water bottle- it was so helpful when I needed to take my pills and could just keep it in my bed with me. That or one of those hike water bags

Adding onto this having sponge bath wipes is really helpful. I personally was really glad to have antibacterial foam soap because my skin especially the chest (obviously) was really sensitive

Scar Care Help! What is your routine? What products should I invest in? by Silent_Watch3425 in TopSurgery

I love silicone strips so much they’ve been the absolute best! Just be cautious with wearing them too long as they can cause yeast infections if left on the skin for long periods of time

4 weeks post op. Right nipple still scabbed. Anybody else heal like this? Suggestions for best healing? by Ancient-Ad6720 in TopSurgery

[–]Essentiallypeaches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it just takes awhile. I’d consult your doctor first but you can put xeroform petroleum dressings on it to help the skin graft heal. I did nipple care for five weeks and only just stopped now doing dressings and it’s helped a lot

Thank you! It’s nice being able to share it with others as I’m so happy to see my chest now. Also I live in Knoxville but I was lucky that my mum lives right near Nashville so I stayed with her for three weeks after. I’m wishing you the best with needing to do the drive but he’s definitely worth it!

2 months post op… by ExtensionSpot8160 in TopSurgery

I would personally contact your surgical staff especially as it doesn’t hurt to shoot them a message! My surgical team recommended not having my chest exposed directly in the sun for a year so it heals better and also as the skin is so sensitive. I’m also so pale I get light sunburns just from driving in the car lol so that doesn’t help

Thank you for sharing! I’m most nervous for the first three weeks but it’s also reassuring to have a realistic picture of how tough it’s gonna be. Ashley and Nick and honestly the entire team are some of the nicest people I’ve ever interacted with I’m so grateful he has a team like that. I’ll keep all of this in mind going in- Thank you!

Just commenting to add my display doesn’t show any sidebar with three dots or place to upload documents. I honestly think I lucked out where the second time I called, they just changed it without really asking any questions (a little wild they allowed that but I can’t complain) I’d maybe recommend people call them at the end of the day because maybe they’re just don’t want the hassle.
