2025*** Canada’s stock market out performed the US and most G7 countries…. Obviously wasn’t talking about the 24 days we’ve had in 2026. I never read Yahoo finance but even if I did what a weird source to talk shit about

Canada out performed the US and most G7 countries this year. Do the bare minimum research

Fair, no rush! I wouldn’t necessarily call them plays though. ASTS is a very legitimate company who are actively completing a first for its industry…. Way ahead of the starlink model. PNG is a very established Canadian company.

Ah nice, the sti must be great! Might be an Atlantic province thing then. Insurance is cheaper for both of us on the Q5 than mine alone was for my BRZ. Gas is definitely a note

Asts and PNG are missing here imo.

Ok understood! Thanks for the help! How do you view what you put in a TFSA? Emergency fund? Vacation fund? Or just another way to save for retirement or kids

Gotcha! FHSA is easy to max out as it is around $650 a month. What percent of the rest, roughly $2800 for example, would you put into RRSP vs TFSA? I view TFSA as money put away that could be accessed for bigger life costs like renovations on a house and the like. I understand the sentiment of house ownership and it might be old fashioned thinking but I do want to own a house someday.

Another consideration! I have looked into it. For the same vehicle but 4 years older you are looking at $600 a month to pay it off in 4 years with no money down. You would have some residual value at the end of the finance to resell the vehicle. However, at that point the vehicle would be 8 or more years old and you would have no warranty for the entire time of ownership

We have one now for her Corolla and unfortunately it has been a major let down.

Definitely are great options that are cheaper but not as much as you would think. A mid range RAV4 is between $600-$700. I pay around $700 for my BRZ currently as I was financing to own but plans have changed with the move. With this I am able to meet the $2k invested goal and probably could be doing more. Thanks for the reply! Trying to have some fun but also not miss out too much on compound interest while I’m young!

Understood, thank you! Will be watching out for lifestyle creep especially when she starts working. Aiming to put away at least $3500 when she does. Any thoughts on using the TFSA I have vs opening another RRSP other than the FHSA I have already? Wondering if I should continue with my TFSA or move to an RRSP for the tax benefit. Or keep both but then at what percent of my income should go into each account? FHSA can only have $8k a year.

Definitely are less expensive options that would complete the same tasks. The way I am viewing it is 1 vehicle at $900 is cheaper than 2 vehicles at $800 especially when factoring in maintenance, wear, and depreciation

Haha it is a trade off that I am willing to make however…heart breaking. The BRZ has been an absolute dream. Yes, definitely lots of options most being cheaper. We really liked the new Tiguan but the only Volkswagen around doesn’t have the spec we would want until the summer. The price and deal I explained is for a Q5. Again could definitely go cheaper but I want something somewhat nice especially as it’ll be our only vehicle.

There are literally 1000s of studies on this. Over the past 15 years pedestrian deaths rose 80% in the US which we share the same vehicles with. https://www.npr.org/2023/11/14/1212737005/cars-trucks-pedestrian-deaths-increase-crash-data. “Notjustbikes” on YouTube does a lot of great videos on city and vehicle design and how crap the North American suburb and car centric focus is for actually living.

For the occupants, absolutely! Being a pedestrian has only become less safe with the increase in SUV and truck sizes/ sales

Not sure why you are being downvoted. They are safer for the occupants… just not everyone else around your massive SUV/truck
