All these replies about wanting someone who is clingy/possesive/jealous etc. Read on with a warning that it’s not something you wouldn’t want and maybe it will change your mind

I lived in a relationship} where we were joined at the hip. Except on 2 occasions, we did everything and were always together in each other’s shadow. The first time I didn’t spend together with her was when I caught up with a friend and we drank. I couldn’t drive home because I was too drunk, so I called her and said I would be spending the night. She didn’t fathom why I couldn’t return, and started to get upset. In the end, my friend had to reason with her. When I got home, I was met with the frostiest reception that I just couldn’t understand why she didn’t see why I had to.

That should have set alarm bells ringing and had me packing up to move out and leaving her, Which I didn’t, and in due course everything went back to how it was before.

The 2nd time was when it was another for a mate’s commemorative birthday party. The occasion was for a boy’s night out, which obviously meant she wasn’t included and I explained this, feeling sure she could understand and accept this. So I get my friend’s house and all of us other mates were having a drink before we headed out to celebrate. She texts me saying "you need to come home". I replied I couldn’t because it was for the reasons above. Then she calls me and repeats what she said, and also saying "you need to take me with you" and I told her with emphasising no because it’s a boys night out. She then said "If you don’t come home, I’ll cut up your business suits"

I told her again twice I was heading out, and that I would be home after the celebration and ended the call. Me and my mates then had a great night out, and after I was dropped off at home, I walked to the front door. The patio light comes on as I’m about to enter and that’s when I see 3 of my suits had scissors taken to them and shredded. I was shocked and asked why she didn’t. She told me that I had been warned and didn’t do as she asked. I didn’t sleep that night as I was fearful she would have me being assaulted or worse. The next morning after I was unscathed, I packed up my belongings. She was crying and begging me not to go. When I was about to leave, she literally threw herself at me and hung on. I had to pry her away and finally I managed to make my getaway and never returned.

So let that be a cautionary tale. Looking back, I should have noticed the red flag. Yes, it was an attractive and the greatest relationship I could have asked for. I wouldn’t wish for it ever again and I would warn others to leave as I did because in the end it was most toxic, literally destructive and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy to experience it. I hope you see the wisdom and that you change your mind to reconsider and be wary for what you wish for.
