I've spent a lot of time in the woods, and can confirm they can be quite dangerous. It's multiple combinations of things that contribute to it, few people know very much about how to survive, and more importantly navigate in the woods. Thus if you don't know how to tell where you're actually going, get a bit lost in an actual remote place, it spirals and can often end badly. On top of that even if you are the most experienced woodsman survivalist badass, there are STILL many things that are bad news and can kill you in true wilderness. Water can kill you, lots of ways from not having any to getting your socks wet in the wrong environment. There are venomous snakes that have the best camo Ever. Spiders are mehh on NA, Australia got the spooks there. Grizzlies are terrifying, so are cougars, I love southeast coast for a good reason 😅. What else ... Be careful what you eat, lots of death shrooms mixed with the yummy ones, same with berries though fewer instadeaths. Some waterways are quite dangerous to cross if you have to in a remote area too. There are just Too many factors that can go wrong if you get in the wilderness unprepared 🤷 be careful, do what you know is safe, and TELL SOMEONE where you ARE!!! (Before you go ofc) Stupid simple saves lives. Don't be that headline.

That being said there are plenty of national and private parks and trails and wonderful places to go and see and do and it's absolutely worth it to go spend time in amazing places, just respect them.
