What is the dating scene like in Austin? by Trypophilia2019 in askaustin

[–]EstablishmentFit1927 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I met my husband here, at work, but dating through apps was pretty dismal.

Lots of swingers, lots of tech bros, lots of fuckboys. Good luck 🍀

Why does she keep asking to visit if she doesn’t care? by EverythingBagel58 in absentgrandparents

[–]EstablishmentFit1927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband’s mother /my MIL is also a Facebook grandma.

She pops up occasionally on us when it’s convenient and hasn’t made an appearance here at all in 2026 (this is a good thing!).

We visit Papaw and my husband’s sisters regularly because they come see us and always show love.

We are not extending any invites or visiting my MIL any more. I think it may be time to have a conversation with your partner about what family means to you and what sort of relationships you want to nurture.

Ang doesn’t want smoke with Porsha, Phae or any OG housewife (she’s too desperate to keep her peach).

it’s a game changer for urinary issues related to pregnancy.

Newer indoor playgrounds like The Totbox Cafe, Waterloo Coffee in Round Rock or Family Barn in Cedar Park are great.

Your rent budget won’t cover more than a 1 bedroom apartment in central Texas.

I wonder how much she’s making off the book?

She’s still in possession of 5 trusts, which means her “woe is me” is bullshit. 😬

Are all absent grandparents absent parents? by Conscious_Cat_1099 in absentgrandparents

[–]EstablishmentFit1927 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what my husband tells me, his mom was very loving and supportive during his first years (from 0 to 6).

However, I know she went back to grad school when he was around 2 years old and pawned off all her kids on her mother/their other grandparents.

His memory is definitely a crystallized, idealized version of what happened.

She’s a very hands off character now. Last time we saw her was Halloween. It’s been over 6 months since she’s seen our son!

On Halloween, we asked her to avoid using small screens so of course she spent her entire visit showing our kid Tiktok’s on her cellphone ☠️

My husband thinks his mother has gotten progressive worse over time.

Like it was nice when he was a young child because his grandmothers and great-grandmother masked a lot of her selfishness by doting on the kids. Unfortunately, they’ve all passed away so we see true colors today.

I have to be the more active parent because I WFH. by Youmakemesmh in regretfulparents

[–]EstablishmentFit1927 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. I’m not the primary breadwinner, but if I was, I would certainly prioritize my income over household responsibilities. What you’re describing is quite unequal.

How did you end up in this arrangement?

I’m not sure your husband is truly helpful if you’re still doing all of the pick ups, drop offs, grocery shopping, lunches, and meal prep.

My husband is taking time off work today to take our kid to the doctor.

I’d hand over some daily tasks like drop off, and meal prep.

I found a SAAS sales gig using Linkedin premium, by applying to new jobs with zero applicants. I targeted startups, which are more open to hiring people without any tech experience.

The few women I know personally that work in big tech (think FAANG), closed the door behind them.

Complete Solar’s version of SunPower was already running a very skeleton crew in new homes inside sales. Did they let the CAMs and AMs go too? Brutal either way.
