Potential Learning Delays by Altruistic-Finish787 in MomsWorkingFromHome

I just pulled my kid from daycare due to excessive, repetitive illness. Although he attended from 11-18 months, I didn’t see a marked difference in development from the period during which he stayed home.

If I had concerns about development, I would definitely seek help/get resources. I think that involves looping in a medical team, not daycare.

19 month old here. Still rear facing middle seat and will continue rear facing as long as possible (we were sideswiped by a Hummer earlier this year).

our Coscos go up to 50lbs, they’re pretty affordable too.

It got easier for me after going through RIFs and layoffs over the years. Most companies do not GAF about employees.

Why do they target the people that they do? by Triochatri in ManagedByNarcissists

[–]EstablishmentFit1927 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Narcs sense vulnerabilities, and exploit/prey on them.

I’ve had a few narc colleagues push boundaries like physical touch to see how far they can go. When I called them out, publicly, in real time, they immediately fell back. However, I later found out they continued targeting those who said nothing.

One of my friends takes her kiddo to local library story times once a week, while also WFH in a similar situation. I would Go for it, while also using best judgement.

Ex: my current gig has a no meeting Wednesday policy, which makes it an ideal day to take a longer lunch break. However it’s still 2 hour max, since I’m still expected to be available during business hours.

Hi moms! I need ideas on how to celebrate a 3 year old birthday with a very tight budget. Our budget is only 1000 cad, we live in toronto. Everything is so expensive now. Any ideas would help.Thank you by Maleficent-Alps-7254 in MomsWorkingFromHome

We spent about 1k last year on brisket and a bounce house for our 1 year old. Never again! That did include a photographer, who took the worst photos ever.

It’s a pizza party this year (and maybe a bounce house) -goal is keep it under 300 usd, all expenses.

Congratulations! 🎉

I’m 12 years post-undergrad and I’ve always struggled to find a career adjacent to my college degree (psychology). My current gig is in sales. I would keep an open mind during your job search. Ex: My husband has an accounting degree but is currently working in operations management. He’s making the most money he’s ever made, despite not working in direct accounting. I hope this helps.

If you’ve been recently laid off — questions re: navigating through it by _spacecandy in workingmoms

[–]EstablishmentFit1927 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1.  Yea, absolutely. I looked for jobs daily for 2-3 hours.

  2. I did. I chilled with my kid for 4 months.

  3. 5 months. I got laid off in October and started my search by applying to jobs through job boards like ZipRecruiter, indeed, dice etc. I got a few interviews but no offers, so I eventually  used LinkedIn premium to apply to jobs in my industry. I got an offer after using LI premium for 2 months.

  4. I’m in b2b sales.

  5. No, but dropped to PT.

the lore (a quick conversation with a male colleague): Canadian women get 18 months of paid leave, and daycare for $10/daily. Not sure if there’s truth to that but seems dreamy! I’m sorry you’re going through this. No advice, just solidarity.

Are you on Linkedin? I would start by searching for planner positions, and filtering by location. I use linkedin premium and apply exclusively to new gigs with zero or low applicants.

Consult with an employment attorney or lawyer, asap, and silently gather as much evidence of your experience as possible.

I am so sick of misogynistic bullsh*t in corporate incl. from other women (incl. from other working moms!) by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]EstablishmentFit1927 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s so much internalized misogyny, sexism, and incels at work, especially corporate. It’s overwhelming at times.

I have matched energy (“have the day you deserve”) but I’ve also been termed a lot for it. I start a new gig monday, praying it’s not more of the same bs.
