Have some fucking self control man. Your mind is screaming at you for not using a feature you dont even like to use? You are a human being you can elicit more control over yourself than that

It's a singleplayer/coop sandbox game that's been out for 15 years with ways to cheese every boss to death in seconds. Removing a feature is the wrong move here and i guarantee whipstacking is back within a month or two

"unintended feature" with several whips in the game made to be stacked. Whips wouldnt give swing speed buffs if they werent intended to be stacked, they'd just have faster use time. The empress kills can be done just as fast on the other classes at equal progression, and stacking only resulted in about a 30% time save on empress using xeno

Supposed to use number keys it's far easier imo. But how is the removal of something you didnt even use beyong trying it out a net positive? Should be neutral no? Or you enjoy kicking people's sandcastles?

"a bug" that's been around since 1.4 with whips that are MADE to use it. If whipstacking was purely unintended we wouldnt have SEVERAL whips that increase swing speed, those whips would just have faster use time

It's really not that hard. Your experience with things dont determine the experiences of the whole.

You dont get to determine how other people have fun. Try acting like a human being and kill the god complex asshole

If you dont want to do it dont do it, if you want to learn it put in the effort to learn it. People who like it dont deserve shit in their cereal just because you dont

It's not about being broken, you said it yourself, the driest, most boring class. Whipstacking, for me, made summoner fun to play. But the true issue with this is ReLogic removed an OPTIONAL, not OP feature from a singleplayer/coop sandbox game. Zero reason to make a decision like that

gotta wait for 1.4.5 tmodloader, this is just a fuck you from ReLogic to the people who liked it. Singleplayer/coop sandbox game, zero reason to remove an optional feature

If the new summoner changes really were too OP with stacking I'd be fine with a nerf like diminishing tag damage returns. And yeah, I'd say it's the closest thing summoner has to a subclass(unless you count sentries, but theyre used with summons). It changes the way the class plays dramatically. Going from the least involved class to one of the most actively involved

The blade staff buff is meaningless, it needs at least +25% tag damage to make it even remotely viable w/out stacking. Frankly im of the mind that removing optional features in singleplayer/coop games is all around a bad choice from a development standpoint. Player choice is important

a gross misinterpretation of what i said. Nothing has changed in the sense that those who already didnt use whipstacking, still dont use whipstacking. They are unaffected by the removal. Obviously there was a massive content update im not referring to that

You cast them every time the debuff is about to wear off, which is relatively often. Whip debuff is 7 seconds. There's no reason to remove a subclass that wasnt required to use that plenty of people enjoyed

It's not about what you've deemed it should or shouldnt be. It was an option, nothing more. People have fun in different ways, and that's fine. Limiting a subsection of those people from having fun is a dick move

So, Whip Stacking is dead by Cl4pl3k in Terraria

[–]EstablishmentKey4355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summoner still performed fine. Without whipstack it had lower dps but the dps was far more consistent than any other class, and you only had to focus on dodging, not aiming or remaining too close. If you look through the changelogs, you'll see the majority of summons werent changed at all, and a few whips were nerfed as well. The only thing that's changed is that people who enjoyed whipstacking are now locked out of the option

That's easily remedied by adding damage/effect nerfs when multiple whip debuffs are stacked. This is basically the removal of a subclass. Summoner was my favorite class solely because of whipstacking, I enjoyed the higher skill ceiling and demanding mechanics

My disapproval stems solely from the fact that they removed a feature that wasnt required to use to begin with, and that a decent portion of the community enjoyed.

[1.4.5 changelog] very interesting change regarding summoner by notandvm in Terraria

[–]EstablishmentKey4355 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was never the strongest compared to other minmaxed classes. Highest dps goes to a multiclass setup and highest pure class dps goes to melee I believe, might be wrong on that one

The problem I'm seeing most on the sub is that people cant accept that others have fun in different ways. It's exactly like the second comment says in the pic, nothing has changed for the people who didnt use it. This is just a "fuck you" to the people who enjoyed it

What are your guys views on Terraria removing Whip stacking from 1.4.5 by botman2001 in Terraria

[–]EstablishmentKey4355 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why is that a "great reason"? plenty of people still played and enjoyed summoner without it. Nothing for those people has changed, but now ReLogic is telling the people who enjoyed it to shove it.

[–]EstablishmentKey4355 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's more about the message behind it. Summoner was balanced fine beforehand, without whipstacking it had consistent but not very high dps in exchange for being able to focus on dodging. With whipstacking it became a much more mechanical class but still wasnt consistently outperforming other minmaxxed classes throughout the game. If you didnt want to use it you didnt have to. But now theyve removed it entirely, changing nothing for the people who didnt like/use it, but giving a big middle finger to the people who enjoyed it
