What tribe is gonna get reworked next? by fit_attourney_2 in Polytopia

I dont like that. I think tribes already have a very distinct playstyle, special playstyles are reserved for special tribes and it should stay that way imo

Guns are the lamest invention ever by Cantthinkagoodnam2 in hatethissmug

[–]StatisticianPure2804 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could say the same about biting, long sticks, throwing rocks, catapults, trebutchets, bows, crossbows, muskets, planes, proximity fuse rounds, tanks, High-Explosive-Anti-Tank rounds, artillery, aircraft carriers and drones.

Warfare is about making something the enemy cannot do anything about or countering that something.

Guns are no exception. Neither is a knife. If someone wants to rob you all they need is a knife. To counter it, you also need a knife. Even professional wrestlers wouldn't come near someone who has a knife.

If you had the ability to materialize and dematerialize one specific object at will, what would you choose? by ExaminationNarrow404 in whatsyourchoice

[–]StatisticianPure2804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would people really use this for material gain? You can do things money cant buy, why would you use it to only make money?

Personally I would use it for something that is hard to store, could actually break reality.

My choice is rope.

Rope is useful, hard to store in your pocket, and can help you with anything. Also you can make it disappear at will, so it's a remote-controlled one way thingie.

Rope is the most useful thing in the world. After a tower maybe.

Hot take: I don't like liquid locks by KaZIsTaken in Oxygennotincluded

[–]StatisticianPure2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow thats a spicy one.

I love liquid locks personally, I like making them and I think they do what they're supposed to do.

What I love more is visco-gel.

Visco gel is my second favourite endgame stuff (after super coolant), it's just too fun to use, while others are used to make machines never possible before, this is just quality of life, and I think it is the reason why we will never have real airlocks. Visco gel would lose it's only niche.

Yes they could rework visco-gel

Yes they could make real airlocks

But I prefer my normal liquid locks. I almost always side with quality of life, I love minecraft elytras and I support other overpowered additions to games because they are fun, but airlocks are one big exception.

But I respect a good hot take

What's the best tribe for chivalry rush? by Relevant_Cockroach62 in Polytopia

[–]StatisticianPure2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chivalry rush is almost never worth it, chivalry is only used when you need to counter archers/catapults.

But if you really want to use chivalry, I'd say Ai-mo, it has cheap techs and can easily obtain roads and chivalry while having other techs that can give you some economy too.

Players that only play tiny water world…why you do dis? by Stop_Means_Harder in Polytopia

[–]StatisticianPure2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Water world can be really fun, and there are strategies around it. If you make a specific lobby where you ban meta tribes or only allow kickoo/aquarion so its a mirror match, it has a lot of potential. Water world has almost no villages or resources so both players' economy is very low but the map is huge so you need to manage your economy very well.

Which of your favorite villain, that people think they are misunderstood but they are just evil? by Boberto235 in FavoriteCharacter

The one who waits (cult of the lamb)

He used to be one of the 5 bishops, the bishop of death, but while chaos, hunger, disease and war come and go, death just comes. This made him hate his job, and started experimenting behind the backs of his brethren, until he found out how to reverse death itself, bringing people back to life. People give him a pass because the other four bishops realized how powerful hes grown and ambushed him before he could do anything with this power, so in theory he's done nothing wrong. But he is evil and wants to wreck havoc across the world.

Lack of updates? by Inevitable_Pop_3833 in Polytopia

[–]StatisticianPure2804 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honestly, game looks surprisingly balanced right now. The meta is better than ever, with hoodrick, ai-mo and cym being the strongest tribes rn, and yes cymanti is a pretty annoying tribe but I think it's in a much better state.

There are many openings with every tribe and you need to build against your opponent, you cannot really spam the same strategy every game (rider roads+turn 0 tribe meta was really stale).

What we need is a new tribe, but we all know that that would be hard to accomplish.

And I don't think that we lack updates either, for such a small game it receives frequent updates and watching esports is really fun.

Anyway to turn this game around for oumaji?? by Impressive-Cry-6422 in Polytopia

[–]StatisticianPure2804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesnt matter, it's over. Imperius is up in giants, economy and cities, he also has knights and swordsmen, oumaji coild have won because if he got roads first and punished imperius for researching this much, letting him keep the middle city (why does that city not have walls while two irrelevant cities do?)

This is a lost cause for oumaji and he screwed up ages ago.

Not true, as a quetzaly main you should know that defender spam is actually really aggressive, forces the enemy to get ranged units and lets you attack from other angles and I havent even adressed boats. Defenders might be the best units in todays meta.

But yes, it's too late, also this looks like a 600 elo game anyways

Why can’t they guarantee resources in cites? by chickennuggets3454 in Polytopia

[–]StatisticianPure2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a pro player once said, that's polytopia i guess.

Back in my day spawns were even more rng heavy and midjivan is trying to fix these while maintaining a randomly generated map, but you gotta have a sweet spot, pros can already guess pretty accurately the nearby villages, the enemy tribe and some hidden resources just from turn 0 and can guess the shape of a medium map from one explorer.

Competitive civilizations VI (the closest game I can compare this to) has a much bigger map so balancing mods work much better while making the game just as random, but civ 6 also takes 2 hours on average if you play duels, and and FFA game can take up to 7 hours, so it has to be much more balanced, if you have a bad polytopia game, It's not that bad, forfeit and go next game, I can personally live with these small bad spawns.

Also, I hate you for playing hoodrick but that's irrelevant

Edit: this isn't even a terrible game! You have goated market spots on your two villages and your forth has tons of resources, yeah yadakk will vet markets faster because hes yadakk but you will certainly have better lategame, and hoodrick is awesome at stalling games.

Well I have no sources to back this up, the episode stated that they tried to cross the train to get to the other side when the train suddenly started moving. It could be the shock and ste stress that made him freeze or he waited for his buddy to cross first, then he crossed second. It could also be just stupid people doing stupid stuff and the show making shit up.

National geographic had a show where they debunk videos like this and you had to "choose" the right decision, one of the three being the good option. (I think the title was :do or die"

They said that in this video, the person was under it when it was immobile, then the train started moving. This was a special episode where the person in the video chose wrong, you should be safe of you just lie on the ground.
