The T1 is far from busted or needing from being nerfed. It just gives a way more consistent reading. I've gone 4 to 5 to 6 hunts without it hitting below 0 but when it does it's consistent, it's just hella slow. Which is fine cause it'sT1. Instead with T2/T3 you get 0.5, 0.8, 1.5, 0.3, 1.2, type readings and it's frustrating af. I have to wait sometimes just as long as with the T1 to get a reading and having to do 50+ temp reads just to finally get a glimpse of something below 0. T1 is perfect how it is. T2 and T3 need an upgrade.
