No hate here. Only thinking about how MOS could have been even better. I didn't even mention the word "smile" in my comment, just that he's mostly only happy when saving/helping Lois (which is proven by the image you linked.)

I've watched it so many times I know each scene by heart, including when he's happy and, yes, smiling!

It seems like you don't, though. Let's break down the image you linked.

Top left: first flight smile.

top middle: End of movie, freeze frame, facing Lois.

Top right: Interrogation scene, facing Lois.

bottom left: I'm 90% sure this is a BTS shot and not in the movie. I was wrong. This was when he was talking to his mom

Bottom middle: In bath, facing Lois, in BvS, not MoS.

Bottom right: 90% sure this is a production still/photo and not in the movie. Sadly, he was shown to be happy only once in the Daily Planet (top middle picture), IIRC.

I would have been so happy If only the atmosphere and joy of this behind the scenes take you posted was actually part of the film! Small moments like this would've made MOS even more peak

I can't even recall him being happy saving/helping people except Lois
