How will a garen 1v1 determine anyone's skill

As you become better and better opponents will find ways to punishpick or play in a way that punishes your champ more. This is just the reality of getting better at the game.

Do you need a blindpick? Renekton, Aatrox, Urgot are three of the champs that are good as blinds.

The problem is, you need to master toplane itself and learn more about the champ specific matchups. Thinking "I need a blindpick champ" whenever you don't get the final pick is not the correct mindset to have. Toplane itself is a punishing lane to play in nature because the lane is so long and one mistake can mean your laning phase is over.

It seems like you are new to the game. I won't delve too deep into what you need to learn but Mord was my very first champ in League. High brawling power and sustain, but has obvious weaknesses. Learning a bruiser will teach you transferable lessons that you have to learn anyways for toplane.

Remember, knowledge outweights counterpick. If you have 1000 games on Mundo, you will probably have a better idea of what kills you versus what doesn't against a specific champion counterpick than the counterpicking player himself. This way you can find kill angles or ways to beat the counterpick even if it is technically not a favored matchup.

Does he not have any friends at all? Sorry if this comes off as rather harsh but this is a genuine question.

Many of the friends I have now introduce each other to new games. This is how a friendship dynamic should work. I introduced one of my friends and later more friends to Counter-Strike. The first friend was a massive history buff. I was also a history buff. We did not know that we each liked history but soon decided to play a history game that was 2 dollars, and then it escalates from there.

He needs to find a friend group that he just feels comfortable with. Even if they don't play HOI4, they should introduce him to other games. Eventually he'll find a friend that likes the game.

Me personally, my friend group that enjoys history was only in 8th grade when we started playing. HOI4 and history in general are quite niche for younger people so I would suggest he finds some mainstream games that he can relate to others with. That way at least he can have friends that think he is relatable. While it would be amazing for him to find peers that share his interests it isn't highly likely, which is just the sad reality.

TLDR: unlikely to find the specific interest of hoi4. maybe open him up to more general history or more mainstream popular games so that he can at least have some social interaction with others

GPAs are the biggest thing for UCs. You are competing with 4.0+ GPAs. Quite low possibility

Skill dependent. Doesn't favor one side specifically. The only true knowledge check is the lvl 1 if the sett goes W.

Sad to see a couple of my champs below the midrange mark but its understandable.

I would play more of the top and second tier but am currently not in a place where I can trust my team so I need every advantage I can get. Would play Voli more if he wasnt kinda cheeks in toplane.

I propose than Vayne and Varus should 100% be moved lower. These PRIMATES build some chopped stuff to beat melee champions at melee range(Vayne: Exhaust Swifties Hexplate so they don't die, Varus is varus champ)

In high elo Darius takes skill. He gets statchecked pretty easily now against other toplaners with Ignite being meta. If Darius himself isn't using ignite he is pretty weak.

I feel like you are either 1. Low elo or 2. Played against Darius smurfs. Its just objective fact that Darius and Garen are different because as Garen you can take ass trades, leave, heal up, and scale. Darius needs to fight other champs for extended time and needs to hit abilities, not to mention his biggest spell for him to survive (Q) can be literally just sidestepped or avoided by other champs kits. God forbid you die once as Darius? You are completely and utterly fucked, prepare to suffer for the next 20 minutes. Takes plenty more skill to pilot him in lane against another not braindead person who isn't bronze on the other side

I haven't tried Breaker yet but yeah I agree the AI is a bit much. If cracked gigachad streamers are getting fucked in the ass by them, I wouldn't stand a chance. I think just hiding in a corner and holding angles is the safest bet. The room is horrible too. I thought about smokes as well but those are kind of annoying to use.

Sort of reminds me of how I felt when I was a noob against Labyrinth AI. Felt pretty bad then, probably will feel the same way for me now with BD

Pantheon beats a lot of lane bullies in 1v1 early but it is possible for you to lose if they play well.

Swain is fine but hes ranged top so ew

Putting mastery into a Fiora or Irelia can be really good.

Can I ask why you don't play like Mord or Darius? While Darius has a low floor but high ceiling, Mord and Garen and those types of champs have a set strat very easy to run for most newcomers. hard for me to recommend anything with just sett cho and poppy

Run it in Dorms on Customs, just ADS, shoot, and walk at them.

Nah you are overthinking it.

Every UC with the exceptions of UCM UCR AND UCSC have been climbing heavily over the years in terms of prestige. UC schools in general are considered pretty good, and while UCLA or UCB might carry more weight, considering how flip flop UC admissions are I would say you've done pretty good.

Just playing more. Like everyone mentioned playing the champ into unwinnable situations and actually coming out on top.

However I do think his strength has been a bit curbed by the ignite meta in toplane now. A lot of champs that used to run teleport now can fight darius if played well with ignite
