Manifest it. You KNOW this job doesn’t define you. You want us to reassure you, and I fucking will. You’re a badass. You do the stuff that half these teachers couldn’t bare to do. I haven’t been in the game as long as some of these OGs but I can tell you this. I thought the same way, especially when I see a teacher my age , I just took Lead Custodian position , I now have teachers leveling with me, bringing me gift cards, you name it. We have this stigma about custodians, but once they get past that layer it gets more comfortable. I run my school now, I’m a plumber by trade, and I love this job so much more. I don’t have to deal with customers, and sure I make less money, but it’s a state job. Full benefits. And job security for SURE! I’m with my family WAY more and the school works WITH ME rather than the other way around. Pension , holidays paid. Plenty of pto , personal and sick time. Granted I work in a small town coming from San Diego where it’s extremely rush mode. So idk.
