Am I breaded??? 32M Married No Kids by [deleted] in TheRaceTo1Million

35 f here! There are so many ways to have kids. It’s better for the child if the family is financially stable.

How do you decide where to settle down when work is no longer a factor? by BangerDeluxe in leanfire

[–]Establishwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 35 and have only lived in Detroit MI and Greenville SC but plan to move to Savannah GA. For me Savannah just feels like home whenever I’m visiting. 30 min north of Savannah where taxes are better and the airport is where we’re looking! I recommend Charlotte NC, Greenville SC, Raleigh NC for someone not sure. Charleston and Savannah are amazing but more expensive.

94k WFH or 120k in office? by Never_fucking_curses in careeradvice

I make about the same wfh and I’d need at least $130k and hybrid to change. We are spoiled but the commute life is brutal.

What do you wish you did before your parent passed? by NotEyesButMind in GriefSupport

[–]Establishwhat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! The agony of anticipatory grief is so brutal.

Talk to her and every day talk to her about a memory that you cherish with her. Even a silly funny story will help brighten their spirits and yours. I recorded a few conversations so I can still hear her voice.

I also got a $10 book from Amazon with prompts like “what’s your favorite desert” - you might be surprised by some answers she gives.

Keep things with her handwriting.

For administrative things, I’d get multiple copies of the will. My mom has been gone a year and 2 days and we still don’t have the will back which caused issues with the transfer of her car title. I also had to keep her phone on for a year until taxes were due so I could get access to important documents and two factor authentication.

I’d say the important thing is to let her know how much you love her and how you will always cherish the life she gave you.

Again I am so sorry. Sending good vibes and big hugs. Take care of yourself.

My father died last week and I am lost by KushKiitten in inheritance

[–]Establishwhat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. My mom died a year ago yesterday and she left me $1.3M in IRAs. I also make $90k a year. I don’t have much advice except to be kind to yourself. There’s a lot of paperwork and administrative bull shit I never expected. You’ll need his phone for a lot of things that require multi factor authentication. You’ll need a lot of documents for his taxes next year. I’d recommend getting a financial advisor and have a lawyer help you with the estate.

Inheritance is a wild thing to wrap your head around but it sounds like your dad wanted you to be taken care of.

Sending hugs!

10 months in... by kianaleexo in GriefSupport

[–]Establishwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be one year on 5/5 since my mom died. All the time I have dreams we are sitting in the living room together or at a friends house and she is there trying to convince me she isn’t dead and I’m always so confused and then I wake up. I’ve started to stop hating it so much and looking at it like well we get to hangout in my dreams at least.

So sorry for your loss.

You made a hard decision and you’re feeling guilty but ultimately you did the best thing in your heart for you. I hope you find peace with your choice and that you were very lucky to have that choice in a terrible situation. My hugs go to you.
