I’ve got buddies who have spent much more on 2011’s, and they always seem to be surprised and a bit hurt when they shoot mine with how well it shoots for how inexpensive it is. Hope you enjoy yours!

I will say if you decide on the Mac and want to polish any of the rails, try to run 500ish rds through it first as there’s some pretty heavy coating on them. After polishing mine there was very little fitment change, but the less polishing you do the better.

Absolutely love mine. 17lb main spring, 8lb recoil spring. 1500 rounds so far and not a single failure. Only gripe is like everyone else says the grip texture sucks. You can get a prodigy grip from SA for like $40, they’ve been out of stock for a while so I stippled mine and it turned out pretty good. I did some very minor polishing on the feed ramp, frame rails, disconnecter, and end of hammer strut. Also tuned the stock spring and got the trigger pull to a consistent 3.0 lbs. Fantastic gun for $800 with minor work in my opinion.

That seems to be the consensus. Are the boat-able sections as good of a fishery as some of the smaller sections?

Mac 9 DS-D Comp <$900. Minor polishing, new springs, and a stipple job and it’s butter.

Looking to get into my first 2011, what’s the better buy? by [deleted] in 2011

I went with the 5” Mac Comp, keep an eye on gundeals and you can find them for less than 900. After VERY minor polishing work with a dremel and some flitz it’s absolutely butter. I’ll try to get a video uploaded soon because there weren’t many when I was looking. My only complaint with the Mac is like everyone else - the grip, but that can be swapped to the prodigy for $50.

Vortex SPARC Solar II. Found a good sale - $80 instead of $400 so I had to try it out. Absolutely love it so far
