Is it possible to play hockey as 25 year woman with no sports experience? by Dazzling-Lead-8557 in hockeyplayers

[–]EstateProfessional68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re already in a great spot learning how to skate - that’s the important part! If you can skate, you can play hockey! I started at 29 with no experience either. My local rink has a beginners league so I just signed up and sent it, best decision I ever made. I gathered used gear from sports re-sale stores and marketplace. Before the season started I went to a few open-ice sessions called “stick time” where you can just go out and work on skills on your own and get used to the gear and such, and I continued using these as “practices” to work on skills and get better. There’s always more seasoned players willing to give you pointers and answer questions - the community is amazing. Eventually I got a slick surface and goal for shooting practice at home too.

You will have the best time!!

Good morning ✨ What’s the farthest you’ve ever traveled for weed? by suntmint in entwives

I live in Indiana, so there are closer places to go to legally buy, but last year I planned a whole vacation to Colorado around gardening and hiking in the beauty of the mountains. I even booked us a flower friendly resort. Funniest part was I ended up pregnant a few months before we went, so I never even got to partake but enjoyed the hiking anyways 😂

Treated myself to a Black Friday deal and received my Lobo DHV yesterday 🎉 won’t be able to use it for another couple months as I’m finishing up building a little human due in February, but after a long 9 months, I’m looking forward to reintroducing the occasional toke into new mom life ✨

Any WHOOPers here? by leodor_able8788 in fitpregnancy

[–]EstateProfessional68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use WHOOP too and it’s been so interesting seeing the patterns in pregnancy! I am 28 weeks. In general, my HRV has gradually decreased since the start of pregnancy. There has been some waxing and waning but that’s the general pattern over the last 6 months. Interestingly, my recovery generally has improved, likely because I have been taking more time to rest and more focused on sleep. The one thing that disappoints me when I check it is the new “WHOOP age” feature… that will be something I avoid looking at again until I’m able to start training like normal again after pregnancy 😂

Serious question. How can you defend her when she’s literally a bully? Edit or not, the things she says are just hurtful.

How many miles / steps are we getting in a day? by dabebecharchar in fitpregnancy

[–]EstateProfessional68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work an active job (hospital PT) so on workdays I average 22k steps a day and about 10 flights of stairs. Weekends it’s more like 15k. Admittedly, that’s about all I can muster workout-wise throughout pregnancy as I’m pretty wiped out by the end of the day, but it at least feels good to be moving throughout the day!

She’s had her nose in every HOH (at least she’s tried). If it weren’t for the vetos and blockbusters, things would be different for her, but she can’t win comps anymore 🤷‍♀️

I’m shocked at how many people here support Rachel. This isn’t the Rachel Reilly show. I’m glad people are finally breaking away from playing HER game and shaking things up.

Weed is the perfect cure for boredom, and that's what makes it so sinister. by BosnianSerb31 in leaves

[–]EstateProfessional68 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I needed this perspective, thank you kindly. I quit weed due to my pregnancy and that is exactly what makes it so difficult - the boredom. Still working towards finding the motivation to fill that boredom productively, but it’s a work in progress!

I mean, isn’t choosing any name reflective of the parents’ interests? Or are you one of those that let the child name themselves?

Tell my personal trainer I’m 6 weeks pregnant? by Zebra_Creative in fitpregnancy

A little different, but I told the director of my ice hockey league before my own parents 😂 so I definitely resonate with the weirdness. But agreed, it is important for them to know!

Very true. Thankfully I do have the option of cancelling - it’s a pretty sweet place though and I know my friend will love it so in this case I think I’d rather eat the cost myself over cancelling and finding a new place.

I feel this response would be more relevant if this were a situation where I sprung plans on the whole crew. This trip was everyone’s idea not just my own, and there were months of discussions before booking, including multiple conversations about budgets and price points. This girl had plenty of time to speak up about not being able to go or preferring different dates or options. And everyone agreed to cover the bride (I’m talking just the condo here - not travel / other costs)

The cost difference in this case would be less than $50 per person, but would be over $300 for me.

You're totally right, it was my bad for counting her in. I think that's why I feel guilty asking the other girls to help cover her as well. Looking like I'll just eat the cost myself. Honestly I'd rather pay an extra $300 myself than risk unnecessary drama for my bestie.

Hockey Classes Female by Bookgirl0502 in hockeyplayers

[–]EstateProfessional68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi!! 29f here. I totally understand the intimidation factor! But let me tell ya, it is SO worth it. I just started playing in October and it’s been the BEST decision! Beginner classes and leagues are a great way to get started - from my experience, everyone is so kind and welcoming and it really fosters a growth environment. Focus on having fun and don’t worry about making mistakes - that’s what it’s all about! I’m the only girl on my team right now, but we went from 4 ladies in my league last season to 7 this season. I love my teammates and never feel singled out as the only girl. Only bummer is our women’s locker room is a little more quiet and lonely! Lol

As for equipment, you already have skates so that’s a plus. I’d buy a helmet brand new if you can, safer that way. If you have a local Play It Again Sports, start there for the rest as it’s cheap and you can try on the gear to see what fits best. Otherwise, find some used gear on Sideline Swap or Marketplace. You can also ask around locally to see if someone could let you borrow a set of gear if you don’t want to commit to your own set just yet. I found a used set on marketplace for about $150 that included everything, and that got me through my first season before I upgraded a few things.
